After Fiona and Zayden spent the entire day doting on Darklight and getting to know him better, they finally let him go to be with his sister. Fiona and Zayden needed some alone time to process the overwhelming revelations of the day. Never had they imagined they had a son, much less someone they had met and grown to cherish instantly upon their first meeting.

Now, everything made sense. From the moment they first met Darklight, they had felt a strange connection with him. It wasn't just the bond of a ruler to their subject, even though Darklight hailed from Domino. It was much deeper than that.

Darklight was their son. This painful and devastating truth was both a source of joy and heartbreak for them. They were thrilled to know Darklight was their son, but it was excruciating to realize they had missed nearly eighteen years of his life. Fiona had forgotten his birth. Zayden had missed his birth. And worst of all, Darklight had been raised by Darkar, their sworn enemy.

Learning that Darklight grew up as Darkar's son shattered them. The thought of him spending his whole life in hell, living under the same roof as their greatest foe, pierced their broken hearts. It hurt to know he hadn't had a normal life where he should have been cherished, treasured, cared for, and loved.

Instead, he was abused, falling into the wrong hands. It might have offered some solace if Darklight had at least grown up loved. But he hadn't. They knew Darkar. He was incapable of love and care, much less for someone as precious as their son.

Once, they had believed Darkar was capable of such emotions, as he had been their friend. But they were wrong, deceived by him. If there was one thing Darkar loved, it was power. He craved it excessively and was toxically greedy, always wanting more and desiring what didn't belong to him. That was the most painful part—the fact that Darklight had once been Darkar's son.

As they bonded with Darklight today, they felt how much he yearned for them, how much he longed to be loved and cared for. This realization felt like another physical blow, knowing their son had never received even an ounce of the love he deserved.

After processing everything, they vowed to love Darklight as much as they could—no, more than they could—because they knew he deserved it and more. And, of course, they would extend this love to their beautiful daughter as well. They would cherish and care for both of them for the rest of their lives.

Darklight found Agatha at the parapet at the top of the castle, a distant look in her eyes as she gazed down at the ruins of Domino.

"Hey," Darklight greeted her softly, walking over to stand by her side, his gaze also fixed on the remains of Domino.

Agatha turned to him and smiled warmly. "Hey," she replied.

"They finally let me go," Darklight said. Although he didn't mind being smothered by his mom and dad, it had felt nice. For once, he felt genuinely happy and fulfilled. His parents had showered him with more love than he thought possible, but he didn't mind; instead, he basked in it. The happiness you get from your own parents is a different kind of happiness, after all.

"I thought they'd keep you longer," Agatha said.

"That's what I thought too, but they needed some alone time. Even though it's just one secret, it's a lot for them to take in."

Agatha nodded. "I'm sure. It's not a simple secret, after all. It's a big and painful one." She leaned her head on his shoulder, and Darklight instinctively wrapped his arm around her.

"It is. It was hard to see them in pain, to the point where I could feel it physically," Darklight said, his tone growing somber.

"I know. But they had to know. I'm just glad it's out there now," Agatha replied.
