(Agatha's P.O.V)
I stopped in my tracks once we were a safe distance from the rest. They wouldn't even realize we were gone, except, of course, a certain redhead. However, it seemed he didn't plan on following me as I had expected.
I heard his footsteps halt, and I turned towards him.
"So," I drawled. He stared at me with a blank expression, but I could detect a hint of mischief in his eyes. "Why are you following me?" I asked.
He shrugged. "Just because."
I shifted my weight to my right foot and crossed my arms. "Just because? You need to give me a better reason than that, or else I'm going to accuse you of stalking, you know."
He stared at me for a while. I stared back, not blinking, coaxing him to just spit it out.
Of course, I already knew the reason, but I wanted him to tell me himself. After all, it took me a good while to figure out his secret.
I stepped back and leaned against the tree behind me. "I can do this all day."
His lips quirked. "No, you don't. More like you can't. You don't have much time, remember?"
I shrugged. "That's true, but I can if I want to, and right now, I want to. You don't have to make it so hard, you know. Tell me why you followed me." I probed him again.
He looked at me for a long moment before he sighed. "I just need to be near you," he finally answered.
"And why?"
"Don't give me that, Princess. You know why," he said with a pointed tone.
"It feels weird when you call me that," I commented, knowing it was coming from him. "And I'd like to hear it from you. Why do you need to be near me?"
"So I know you're safe."
I raised an eyebrow. "I'm not a damsel in distress, you know. Never have been, never will be."
"I know that very well." He lowered his gaze. "I knew it from the start, but look where you are now. If only I had protected you then, that wouldn't have happened."
I took a deep breath. "First, what happened to me was something I predicted and knew was bound to happen. Nothing could have changed that fate, not even you. It had to happen." I held up a finger for emphasis. "Second, I didn't even realize who you were back then, so there's no way you could have protected me. Third, do you think I would've let you, Jacob?" I paused, looking straight into his eyes.
"Or should I say, Zandrov Jacobi Silvermist," I said, slowly emphasizing his true name.
His dark eyes widened as they glowed , and his body immediately started glowing. His once messy dark blond hair lightened and transformed into an uneven but fashionable haircut, with lopsided bangs creating a thick curtain of golden hair. His uniform changed to a pearl white coat with a black front, golden buttons, and a collar of raven fur cushioning his neck. Long gloves peeked out from under the shirt's sleeves. On top of that was a matching pearl cape with a high collar, leaving half of his right torso exposed. The inner part of the cape was black, creating the illusion of a dark shadow behind him. A sash attached to his waist elongated the cape further, and a pair of dark boots extended up to his knees.
