Summary: Your love language is physical touch, unfortunately your girlfriend Narcissa doesn't seem to like it, since she never initiates any displays of affection. One day you ask her why.

Warnings: fluff, hurt/comfort.

You and Narcissa started dating only a month ago, so it's a pretty new relationship. Despite physical touch being your love language, noticing your girlfriend never trying to initiate physical contact made you give her some space. Your displays of affection are more discreet things like hand holding and kisses on the cheek when greeting each other or when saying goodbye to each other.

Though you want to pretend you don't care about it, deep down you do want to be able to be more physical with your girlfriend: hug her, cuddle her, maybe sit on her lap (or her sit on yours), things like that. But you don't want to sound clingy, so you never bring it up.

As you both lay in bed in your pyjamas, she reads a book. You watch her, looking a little lonely, wishing nothing more than to lay on her lap and rest your head on her stomach, but you don't want to seem overly clingy.

She looks down at you. "You alright?"

She closes her book and puts it down, giving you her full attention. You two look like complete opposites with your messy hair and casual clothes, and her perfect hair and formal nightwear, but somehow you fit together perfectly. She notices you staring at her lap, and she quirks her eyebrow curiously, not quite sensing your want to lay in it, but sensing there must be some reason for you staring at it.

"Something on your mind?"

You're a little embarrassed upon realizing you've been caught staring. You could brush it off and not tell her your thoughts, but the need for physical contact is stronger right now, and you've been debating bringing this up for a while.

"Can I ask you something?"

Your girlfriend looks a little concerned, wondering if you're going to say something bad, but her worries are quickly pushed aside since she knows she can trust you. "Of course, ask whatever you'd like."

You shift a bit onto your side so you can face her better. You take a deep breath as you decide how you want to word this. "It's just... I've noticed you never really initiate physical touch. We hold hands and we kiss, but you never hug me or hold me or anything like that, and... I guess it's just made me a little curious, is all."

Her face drops a little, and a pang of guilt runs through her. This conversation is exactly what she had hoped to avoid if she continued to not initiate touch, but she should've realized you'd bring it up eventually.

She looks away from you, unable to look you in the eye for a moment as she tries to sort out her thoughts and words. "You're not upset, are you...?"

You're surprised by her response, wondering why she's acting like your question is upsetting. "No, no, I'm not upset at all. I'm just wondering... is there a reason why you never start anything?"

You shift a bit closer to her. You don't want to sound like you're confronting her - you just want to know why she never tries to touch you.

Narcissa looks back at you, trying to read your expression to see if you're unhappy or upset. When she sees no indication of negative emotion, she slowly relaxes a bit, but her body still feels tense. "It's just... my ex-husband... well, Lucius... he... he wasn't too fond of physical contact. He always got irritated whenever I tried to give him any, so I just... I guess I trained myself to keep my hands to myself..."

Your heart sinks at her words. You're not shocked to hear Lucius wasn't kind to her. But hearing her explain how he even didn't allow her to touch him has you feeling a mix of sadness and anger.
