Warnings: light angst, angst with a happy ending, implied/referenced cheating.
You're in Diagon Alley chatting happily with another woman who's close in age with you. Your girlfriend Narcissa didn't feel like joining you on the trip so she stayed at home. However, feeling lonely without you she decides making a surprise and going to Diagon Alley. The thing is: when she arrives there she sees you and that woman being quite friendly with each other. You did not tell her you were meeting anyone, much less an attractive woman who's in her 20s just like you, a woman who's half her age.
Narcissa is immediately filled with jealousy when she sees you two together. But she decides to act like everything is fine and that she doesn't care about you being with this other woman. So she goes into a store and pretends to do some shopping while really she is watching you two at a distance. Your girlfriend watches as you playfully tease the woman you're with and it infuriates her. She feels a pang of jealousy in her chest and she has to resist the urge to approach you both, but she decides not to, she doesn't want to cause a scene in Diagon Alley and she doesn't want to admit to herself how much she is affected by seeing you with another woman.
She continues to watch from a distance and sees you and the woman burst into laughter over something, making her heart clench in her chest again. Narcissa takes a deep breath and looks away, trying to distract herself by looking at the items in the store where she is pretending to shop. After a few minutes, she glances back at you and the woman, only to find the two of you embracing each other and sharing a hug. She feels her heart sink and she can feel her jealousy and anger rising. Narcissa grits her teeth and clenches her fists, feeling the jealousy boiling inside of her. She can't bear watching you and the woman together any longer, so she quickly walks out of the store and heads towards the exit of Diagon Alley, taking deep breaths to try and calm down.
Narcissa eventually makes her way out of Diagon Alley and apparates back to her mansion, still feeling angry and jealous. She paces around her house, unable to shake the image of you and the other woman from her mind. Your girlfriend keeps thinking about what she saw and how it made her feel. She tries to tell herself that she doesn't care about you being with someone else, but she can't deny the pang of jealousy she feels every time she thinks about you with that woman. She knows she is being ridiculous, but she can't help her feelings.
Some time later you go back home. When you step through the front door, you find Narcissa waiting for you in the living room. She is sitting down on the couch, looking calm and composed, but you can tell from her expression that she is not happy.
As soon as you close the door behind you, she looks up at you and speaks in a cool, calm voice, "Have a nice day?"
You are taken aback by her question, sensing the hint of accusation in her tone. You nod slowly and reply. "Yes, I did. How was your day?"
She lets out a scoff as if your question is absurd. "My day? My day was fine. I decided going to Diagon Alley for a little shopping trip." she says, feigning indifference. She pauses for a moment before continuing, her gaze fixed on you. "Although... I couldn't help but notice something while I was there."
You raise an eyebrow, completely oblivious about what she is hinting at. "What did you notice?"
Narcissa stands up and walks towards you. Her eyes lock on yours as she says in a cold, accusing tone. "I noticed you, spending time with another woman. Holding her, hugging her." she lets out a bitter laugh. "Seemed quite close to each other."
"It's not what it looked like." you say defensively, knowing that your words are futile because you know exactly what it looked like.
Your girlfriend lets out another scoff, her eyes narrowing. "Oh really? So you weren't flirting and being playful with another woman?" she steps closer to you, her tone laced with anger and hurt. "Don't lie to me, I saw it with my own eyes." you open your mouth to speak, but before you can say anything, Narcissa cuts you off. "Who is she, huh? Some kind of fling?" she raises an eyebrow, her expression cold and calculating. "Is she your lover?"
Your heart sinks in your chest as you hear her words. You can see the hurt in her eyes and it makes you feel guilty. "Narcissa, it's not like that..."
She interrupts you, her voice growing even colder. "Then what is it like? Tell me, what exactly is going on between you and her?"
You feel bad for your girlfriend to be feeling like this, making you want to hug her and comfort her and apologize even though you did nothing wrong.
"Cissy, she's my sister." you go straight to the point.
Narcissa immediately freezes, her eyes widening in shock. "Your... sister?" she stares at you for a moment, disbelief written all over her face.
She had been so consumed with jealousy and anger that the idea of the other woman being your sister didn't even cross her mind. She swallows hard, feeling a mix of embarrassment and relief wash over her. Narcissa takes a step back, running a hand through her hair.
"I... I had no idea." she feels foolish for jumping to conclusions and assuming the worst. But at the same time, the memory of seeing you embrace the other woman still stings in her heart.
She looks away, avoiding your gaze. "I feel like an idiot." she lets out a small, bitter laugh. "I just saw you two together, and I immediately assumed the worst. I guess my jealousy got the best of me." she looks up at you, her expression sheepish yet vulnerable. "But why didn't you tell me she was your sister? I wouldn't have gotten worked up if I had known."
A sense of guilt washes over you for not clarifying the situation earlier. You take a step forward and grab her hand gently.
"I should've told you right away. I'm sorry for making you feel like this. I didn't even realize how it must've looked from your perspective. I had just ran into her in Diagon Alley and we were just catching up, that's all."
Your girlfriend sighs, her anger and jealousy slowly fading away. She squeezes your hand back gently, feeling the warmth of your touch.
"I should've given you the benefit of the doubt. I just saw you with another woman and it made me feel... insecure." she looks down, a hint of shame in her voice. "I should've trusted you, I know you wouldn't cheat on me. But I just... I couldn't help but feel jealous. Seeing you with another woman, it just brought up all these insecurities." she looks up at you, her eyes filled with vulnerability. "It's just that... lately I've been feeling like you could do better than me. Like you could find someone younger, more beautiful, less complicated." she looks at you desperately waiting for you to say something.
You can hear the insecurity in her voice and it breaks your heart. You take a step closer and wrap your arms around her, pulling her into a tight hug. "Cissy, that's not true. You're the most beautiful, incredible woman I've ever met. And age doesn't matter to me. I wouldn't want anyone else but you."
She buries her face in your neck, letting out a shaky breath. She clings onto you, seeking comfort and reassurance in your embrace. "I know, I know. But sometimes I can't help but feel inadequate. Insecure about my age, how I look, my past. It's stupid, I know."
You shake your head gently, holding her tighter. "It's not stupid, Cissy. Everyone has moment of insecurity. But you have nothing to be insecure about." you pull back slightly so that you can look her in the eyes.
"You're smart, beautiful, strong. And I don't care about your age or your past. I love you for who you are. Besides..." you pause for a moment, a hint of a smirk on your lips. "You being older is kinda hot..."
Narcissa lets out a small gasp, her eyes widening in surprise. A mix of embarrassment and amusement clouds her features at your unexpected comment. She swats your shoulder lightly, a small but genuine laugh escaping her lips.
"Oh, shut up." but despite her playful protest, you can see a hint of a smile on her face.
You chuckle warmly, enjoying seeing the flicker of a smile on her face. You tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, your fingers lingering on her cheek.
"You know I can't resist teasing you sometimes..." you lean in closer, your voice lowering to a whisper. "But I mean it. You being older is definitely a bonus in my book. It's an added layer of wisdom, experience, and attractiveness... and it just makes you all the more irresistible."
Your girlfriend can feel a blush creeping up on her cheeks at your words. She playfully rolls her eyes, but the faint smile on her lips betrays her true reaction.
"You're such a flatterer..." she pokes your chest with her finger, trying to maintain her cool demeanor. "But I suppose I'll allow it, just this once..."
