Conception - part 1

Summary: It's time for you and your wife to visit St. Mungo's to have a fertility consult to try to have a baby.

After having talked with Draco about you two wanting children, now it's time for the fertility treatment to start. So you two go to St. Mungo's for a consult with your sister-in-law, Andromeda, who's one of the best medi-witches in the UK.

You and Narcissa are sitting in the waiting room at St. Mungo's waiting for Andromeda.

She leans over and speaks to you in a soft voice. "Are you nervous?"

You take a deep breath before you say, "Not exactly nervous, I think I am just very excited. What about you, my love?"

She smiles at you and nods. "Definitely, I just really want to know what to expect."

Suddenly, you hear someone clear their throat in front of you. You and Narcissa look up and see Andromeda standing there with a warm smile on her face.

"Hello, you two, shall we go into the consultation room?"

She moves out of the way as you and Narcissa stand up and walk toward a door at the end of the waiting room. There's two couches placed across from each other. Andromeda waves her wand and three cups of tea appear on the table.

After you all take your seats and get comfortable, Andromeda breaks the silence. "Now, the first thing I'd like to do is assess your physical health. That'll tell us what fertility treatment we can go along with. I have a potion that will do that, and I should have the results fairly quickly."

She sets her teacup down, pulls a green potion out of her robe pocket, and hands it to you. "Now, I know this potion won't taste the best, but if you can down it in one go, we'll be able to move forward faster."

You uncork the potion and put it to your lips. You take one deep breath before you drain the entire bottle. The taste of the potion does leave an unpleasant lingering taste in your mouth.

Andromeda puts her wand to your stomach and mutters a few words. The tip of her wand glows a soft blue and she slowly moves it in a circle around your abdomen. After a few moments, the spell ends, and she writes a few things down on a notepad.

"Everything looks good health-wise, so you're both ready to start the fertility treatment. I do have a few things to discuss with you before we begin, and then we can get started if you two are ready."

She looks at you and Narcissa, who both nod and wait for her to continue. Your wife grabs your hand and squeezes it.

"The first thing you should know is that the treatment does not have a 100% success rate, but the odds are in your favor, and your body appears to be in the best condition. Another thing you might find interesting is the magic behind the treatment." Andromeda takes a sip of her tea before she continues. "The magic we will use is called conception magic. While it does have a slight chance of failing, it's usually a highly effective treatment. The way it works is rather simple, it allows two women who can't conceive naturally because they have the same genitalia to have a child. The first step is a transfer of genetic material, and the second step is the insemination of the womb of the recipient. Does that all make sense to you?"

After a moment of processing, you nod to Andromeda.

"I understand. What is this genetic material, exactly?" Narcissa asks.

Andromeda smiles. "It's a small piece of stem cell-like material that is inserted into the womb of the recipient. It's very similar in its functions to a regular sperm cell. It's a way for both of you to be biologically connected to the baby."

You and Narcissa glance at each other and you can see the excitement on her face.

"That sounds incredible, how soon can we start?" you ask, your voice full of enthusiasm.

"I believe we can get started right now, since you've been fully assessed. I will need to administer some medical spells first, though. If you could lie down on the cot over there, we can begin."

Andromeda motions to a small bed in the corner of the room. You and Narcissa stand up and you make your way to the cot. You lie down, and Narcissa stands next to the cot, gripping your hand tightly. Andromeda approaches you before she begins to cast the spell.

"Now, the first thing we need to do is a spell to accelerate your ovulation. You might feel a little tingly, but it should subside in a moment."

She draws her wand, points it at your abdomen, and begins to cast the spell. You lie there, feeling a tingly sensation around your abdomen, and you can't help but shiver a little bit. Narcissa notices, and squeezes your hand.

"Are you alright, darling?" she asks.

You nod at her, a little too focused on the spell to speak. Andromeda finishes the spell and puts her wand away.

"See? That wasn't so bad, was it?" Andromeda says with a gentle smile. "The next step is a little more complex. I'm going to take some stem cells from Narcissa, and transform them into a sperm cell. There will be a small needle involved, so you may feel a pinch."

Andromeda pulls a needle and a small sample tube out of her pocket. She turns to Narcissa, and holds out her hand. Without hesitation, your wife holds out her arm. She doesn't take her eyes off you. Andromeda locates a vein on Narcissa's inner arm and carefully inserts the needle, drawing a tiny sample from her. You see Narcissa's face scrunch up in a little bit of discomfort as the needle goes in. You lean and plant a gentle kiss on her lips to take her mind off the pain. Narcissa smiles a little and leans into the kiss. Andromeda quickly finishes collecting the blood.

"All done, that was very easy, now wasn't it?" Andromeda says as she takes the needle out of Narcissa's arm, and the skin heals over right away. "Now, the next part is a little more fascinating. As you know, Narcissa's body cannot produce sperm cells on its own, however, we can transform her blood-cells into a substitute for sperm."

Andromeda holds up Narcissa's collection tube and murmurs a couple of incantations over it, and a red glow engulfs the tube. The glow subsides, and Andromeda holds the tube up to the light, peering at the contents through the glass.

"There we have it, a perfect sperm-cell substitute. Now we just need to implant it into you." Andromeda says as she approaches you.

The excitement in your body keeps building, and you grin widely, looking at Narcissa. She smiles back at you, her expression full of adoration. Andromeda sets the tube down.

"Now, there is one more thing I need to discuss with you both. The method of insemination has two options. It can be done just like any other artificial insemination here, in the hospital, or you and Narcissa could perform the... intimate method at home." Andromeda glances at you both and can't help but tease you with a smirk.

Your face turns a little red, you hadn't expected that. Narcissa's ears turn pink, and she coughs, clearly a little flustered. After a moment, you find your voice. "We, uh... we'll take the second option, please."

A smile lights up Andromeda's face. She nods approvingly. "Of course, I thought you might. I will, of course, give you some instructions to follow. Is that alright?"
