Chapter 1: Aftermath Of The Attack

Hiruzen's POV

The Kyubi attack had ended, but it had certainly left a long-lasting impact.

I, Hiruzen, who has been named Hokage once again, sat at the table, surrounded by clan heads, village elders, and commanders.

'As we all know, the fourth Hokage and his wife are no more. They have done a heroic act not many can accomplish, saving the village by sealing the kyubi into their son, who is not even a day old' I stated.

Looking around, I see many pondering, probably thinking about this child whom Minato has entrusted to us.

'He has a name?' One of the village elders questioned.

'Yes, Kushina named him Naruto. I suggest he be known as Naruto Uzumaki, as we don't want Minato's enemies to have ideas about assassinating him so soon' I answered.

'Very well' the village elder replied with a snark on his face, clearly not in favor of the child.

'What about his upbringing?' This time, Hiashi Hyuga, the clan head of the Hyugas, asked.

'I will take care of that. Being Hokage, I am certain it will be difficult, but i will manage it' I answered.

This dismissed all the thoughts about others wanting to use him as a weapon, which I am sure many people on this table currently have.

Many people started protesting, clearly not happy with my decisions. Not wanting to deal with them, I dismissed this meeting.

Fugaku's POV

Everyone unwillingly left except I, Fugaku Uchiha, the head of the Uchiha clan.

'What's the matter?' The current Hokage asks as he brings a cigar closer to his mouth.

'I suggest the Uchiha clan take Naruto in' I stated being up front. 

'Oh?, what made you say that, Fugaku?' The Hokage asked clearly being surprised at my suggestion. This was very unexpected even to me as well.

'Well, firstly, the boy needs protection. I am sure he will be targeted by the village, as he is the host of the kyubi. Secondly, it will be advantageous to him as well; in case the kyubi gets enraged, we can control him as we have the sharingan. Lastly, we honestly want to take him in. Being the son of my close friend Minato, he deserves love, to be taken care of, and to be protected. I am sure my family will be able to, as Mikoto was also a close friend of Kushina. Furthermore, we also have Sasuke, who is close to his age; I am sure they will get along' saying this, I conclude my some-what speech.

I look up to the Hokage, seeing him in deep thought as he is considering all of it. After a few moments, he looks up to my eyes.

'You have the sharingan. How do I know you are not taking him in only to control him rather than his protection?' The Hokage suspects me, which I obviously predicted would happen. He is correct, though. After the attack, trusting someone can be hard, especially for the Hokage.

'If we wanted to, we could've done it ourselves' I say this, referring to the Kyubi attack. 'But it was confirmed that Danzo and Orochimaru were behind it, right?'
Counter-attacking his argument is risky, but I hope it will be worth it.

'That is true. Alright, Fugaku, from now on, Naruto Uzumaki will be in care of the Uchihas' He says as I released a breath I didn't know I was holding.

'But remember that, if anything happens to the boy, you will not have seen anyone crueler than me' he says in a way that even makes me uneasy.

'Thank you, Hokage-sama; I will make sure of that' I say it with a bow. 'Very well, I will arrange so you will meet the boy in the evening. Other than that, you are dismissed' He says as I leave the office.
