The two five-year-olds gather at training ground 3, ready to be trained. They stand waiting for their father, who is going to be their sensei for today. Sasuke looks like he can barely contain his excitement, while Naruto is tapping his feet on the ground nervously.
After a while, Naruto looks up as he feels a presence.
'Alright boys, let's get started.' Fugaku appears with a body flicker. 'I've planned a schedule for you both to remain organized while training', he says, getting started right away.
Naruto and Sasuke stand upright, determination shining on their faces.
'I'm giving you a week to master the jutsus. The five basic and most fundamental Jutsus for any shinobi: water-walking, tree-walking, clone technique, transformation, and substitution', Fugaku explains while scanning the sloppy stances of the boys, clearly thinking much work has to be done.
'How can we learn all of them in just a week?!Sasuke, the slightly more impatient one of the two questions.
'Let me finish first. There's a catch; you have to learn only three. They have to be mastered perfectly; no error should be in sight', Fugaku, being the perfectionist he is, deadpans.
'You can take help from your brothers, but figuring they're mostly gone from the village due to their respective missions, it'll be hard, but if you try hard enough, it is possible nonetheless'. He adds earning looks of disbelief from the boys faces. Naruto, a bit less, but a hint shows on his face even so.
'Get on with it if you both want to complete the given task in a week. Good luck', Not even giving a chance for the boys to register the words, Fugaku vanishes from sight.

Naruto's POV
'I don't think Papa wants us to train, ever' Sasuke exaggerates, not being happy with the assignment given to us.
'We can do nothing about it. Better if we make it work', I try to encourage him, not sure if it is working or not.
He raises an eyebrow and looks at me skeptically, certainly expecting something: 'You've got a plan?'
'I think there's a loophole. It's impossible for us to try to learn the five jutsus in a week. So I guess the aim was for us to realize that we should only try mastering the three, completely ignoring the existence of the other two.' I explain to Sasuke, who seems surprised at my working.
'That actually makes sense', Sasuke admits.
'Now it comes down to deciding which ones to learn,' I say, thinking of the best possible solution.Sasuke beats me to it: 'I think we should try to learn tree walking first; water walking is similar, so we'll be able to learn it easily after. Then the third jutsu should be the clone jutsu; I've heard Itachi Nii-san say it was a fairly easy academy-level jutsu.'
'Yeah, that sounds good,' I say, giving a smile to Sasuke, proud of our work.
He returns the smile, seemingly sharing the same feeling.

The two boys head over to Obito, as he was the only one of their brothers in the village at the time.
'So you're saying you want to learn tree-walking? And you want me to teach it to you?' Obito questions.
Naruto and Sasuke nod in unison.
'Well, I can't decline my favorite little guys. So let's get started!' Obito says enthusiastically, clearly excited to teach the youngsters.
Obito began by explaining the basics of chakra control. He showed them how to focus their energy and channel it into their feet, allowing them to manipulate the flow of the chakra to create a sticky sensation. He then demonstrated how to use this sticky sensation to adhere to the bark of a tree, allowing them to walk up its trunk.
