Chapter 2: First Impressions

Hiruzen's POV

Sitting on the desk in the Hokage office feels unusual after so long. Even more, having a baby cradled in my arms as he rests peacefully.

I look down at the boy; he has blonde hair and blue eyes similar to those of his father. With his mother, he shares his facial features. The whiskers on his cheeks make him stand out from others. He seems very calm and cries much less often than I've seen other babies cry. I guess he shares his personality with his father as well. I smile, thinking no-doubt Minato's genes have taken over.

'Hokage-sama' An anbu appears before me, kneeling on the ground. 'Fugaku Uchiha and Mikoto Uchiha are here'.

'Let them in' I say, not removing my eyes from Naruto, who is looking very sleepy.

After a few moments, the Uchiha's enter, Mikoto holding Sasuke in her arms. Both the adults look visibly nervous, making me chuckle as they both have been strong shinobi's of their generation.

'Ready to meet him?' I question them as they move forward.

Mikoto takes the lead; she kisses Sasuke's head, who looks roughly 2.5 months old, handing him over to Fugaku.

I then hand Naruto to Mikoto, and she is immediately awe-struck at the sight in front of her. 'He looks just like his father' she exclaims. Fugaku also steps forward, eager to meet the boy; 'certainly' he agrees.

'Well then, I entrust you both to take care of him. Jiraiya will soon be visiting as well. I will also stop by whenever I have the time'. I say, and they both nod in response.

'Thank you again, Hokage-sama, for putting your trust in us. We will surely not break it'. Mikoto turns towards me as they are about to depart.

'No need. Oh, and there's something else' I say startling them both, making me chuckle once again. They are both very nervous, considering it's their third time having a child. Then, I suppose, this time is different, that's for sure.

'Congratulations' They both visibly calmed down. Thanking me once again, they leave the office.

As much as I was reluctant to do this, I am sure they'll give Naruto a great life ahead.

Back at the Uchiha compound.

Mikoto's POV

After putting both boys to sleep, I take my time admiring them. They look like complete opposites. One with blonde hair and blue eyes, the other with dark hair and eyes. Outwardly, Naruto looks calmer, while Sasuke seems more active.

'How are they doing?' I look over to my husband, leaning against the wall.

'Wonderful. By the way, when is Itachi coming back?' I say, smiling.

'He'll be here in an hour. I told him to bring Kakashi and Obito as well, as I want them to meet Naruto.'

'That's good. I wonder how they're taking Minato and Kushina's deaths. I, being an adult, cannot bring myself to accept it'.

As Kushina's best friend and a fellow mother myself, I feel a profound sense of sorrow for her, as she died protecting her own child.

Fugaku, probably seeing a sad look on my face, came to sit next to me.

'I wish I could've done something about it. I never thought I would wish to turn back time, but here I am' Resting my head on Fugaku's shoulder, I remember my best friend.

'I am sure she is very grateful to you. Taking care of Naruto—that's the biggest gift you could give her'.

Suddenly, Naruto started cooing. I reached out to hold him when I felt a presence near the door. I look over and smile. 'Welcome back, Itachi-kun'

Itachi's POV

'Thank you, mama; Kakashi and Obito are here as well' I say as I enter the house with the guys in line.

Mama beamed at hearing this, and I returned her smile without delay.

Obito, being a regular visitor, immediately rushed towards Mama and gave her a hug while greeting Papa back-to-back.

Kakashi, who has not become a regular visitor yet, greeted both Mama and Papa politely, and they returned his greetings.

'So, if I am correct, you all must be here to meet the new addition to the family?' Papa smiles.

'YES!' Obito exclaims as we all gather around the boy, whose name is Naruto, as I have been told.

'What do you guys think'? Mama curiously asks.

'He is small'
'He looks just like sensei'
'He looks like a baby'
Me, Obito, and Kakashi, reply respectively.

'Mhm! He is small, seeing as he is only a few days old, while Sasuke's been a few months now. I am sure they'll catch up to each other in no time. And yes, Obito, he looks just like Minato..' Mama answers us all.

'I will protect him, both of them.' Kakashi says, surprising us all.

'I'm sure you will, Kakashi' Papa smiles at him.

As the day went on, all of us played with both Sasuke and Naruto, earning giggles from Sasuke and small smiles from Naruto.

Being honest, they both are very cute. I am glad to have them as my brothers, and just like Kakashi, I will protect them both.
