Epilogue One

Narrator's POV

"Rylen, why did you punch your classmate?"

"Because he was being a meanie" the four year old replies.

"Honey that doesn't mean that you punch him" Colby scolds her daughter.

"Was he being mean to you?" Noah bends down to be face to face with her daughter.

Colby and Noah got a call from the principal at their kids' pre-school earlier today about their daughter being in a fight with a boy during recess. They're in the principal's office right now trying to figure out what happened.

"No he-" Rylen starts but stops suddenly. She looks down not wanting to tell her moms the truth. Rylen looks at her brother Callum quickly before looking away.

"He pushed Callum down and called him a loser" Rylen says.

"Is that true Callum?" Noah asks her son.

He nods his head while looking down. Noah pulls Callum up into her arms. Comforting her son.

When the twins were born it was very obvious that they were complete opposites. Rylen was the more daring of the two. While Callum was a quiet and sensitive kid. Rylen enjoyed playing outside as much as she could, trying new things, and speaking her mind. Callum on the other hand enjoyed reading, playing with legos, and video games.

"He said I was a loser and took my book away. I tried to get it back but he pushed me" Callum cries in Noah's arm, breaking her heart. Noah got filled with rage hearing what happened to her son.

"Did you call this kid's parents as well?" Colby asks the principal.

"We did not. The teacher only saw Rylen punch him"

"Well I don't give a shit. This kid better be in trouble for hurting my son" Noah says angrily.

"We will look at the camera. If what your children are saying is true we will make sure that his behavior is brought to his parents attention and that we take the right action. But Rylen still punched him and we do not accept that type of behavior. She will be suspended for two days"

"That's fine" Noah says. "Are we done now?"

"Yes"

"Good, let's go babe" Noah walks out with Callum still in her arms.

Colby grabs Rylen, lifting her up. Rylen smiles as her mom carries her to the car.

Colby and Noah put their kids into their car seats before heading to the front. Noah drives them home, still upset about what happened. Colby grabs her hand trying to calm her a bit.

"He's okay" Colby tells her wife.

"He got hurt Colby" Noah's eyes are filled with sadness. The pain one gets when their child gets hurt and they couldn't do anything to prevent it or be there when it happened.

"Mommy, I'm hungry" Rylen says.

"We're almost home honey" Colby tells her daughter.

When they get home the kids run inside.

"Noah wait" Colby grabs her hand before they walk inside the house. "I know you are angry. I am too. We need to be calm when we talk to the children. Rylen needs to understand that what she did was wrong even if she was defending her brother"

"But-"

"No, no buts Noah" Colby interrupts her wife's rebuttal. "I want our children to understand that fighting should not be the answer"
