34 : Bonus

Noah's POV

Now I remember why I haven't drank this much. It fucking sucks. I think I'd rather take hours of training over having a hangover. Luckily Hunter kept Colby distracted while I was puking. She didn't suspect anything, at least I don't think she did.

After feeling a bit better I jumped in the shower and used some mouthwash before meeting with Colby again. She's staying with us for the next few days. We went to bed not long after my shower. I'm sure I fell asleep before Colby did. I laid on her like a sloth while she ran her finger through my hair. I think she knew that I was not feeling well, but wasn't ready to talk about it.

This morning when I woke up Colby was still asleep. I managed to get out of bed without waking her up. Heading downstairs to make her some breakfast.

"Morning" my ma greets me as I walk into the kitchen. "Run" she says as she got closer to me.

"What?" I look at her confused.

"Go now" she pushes me back out the kitchen.

"Ma what are you doing?"

"Noah Ella!" shit. My mom comes in angry. I understand why my ma was trying to get me to leave now.

"Y-yes mom?" I freeze with panic.

"I know that you were drunk last night Noah, don't try to act like nothing happened. Explain now"

"I thought you didn't drink?" I turn around to see Colby standing at the kitchen entrance.

"I usually don't," I admit.

"So why did you drink last night?" she asks.

I look at my parents not knowing if I am going to have this conversation with them in the room.

"Can we talk upstairs?" I ask Colby. "I'll talk with you both after, I promise" I tell my parents. They nod in agreement.

Me and Colby head back up to my room. Sitting down on the couch in my room.

"Did you drink because of me?" Colby asks before I could begin.

"No, it was because of me" I tell her. "I got so into my head and used the wrong source to make myself stop thinking about it"

"What was on your mind?"

"What we were celebrating last night" I admit.

"You taking over?"

"Yeah. I was really happy about it at first. It wasn't until later that all my thoughts started to go everywhere" I stop for a moment as what I was thinking about last night came back to mind.

"I'm sorry Colby" my eyes water, "I want to be with you. I want to be able to give you everything you want and to live with you. If I take this job I can't do that"

"Noah" she wipes the tear from my cheek.

"I don't want to ask you to give up what you want just for me either. It would be selfish for me to ask you that. Thinking about leaving my family is really hard. If I feel like I couldn't do it then I have no right to ask you to do it-"

"Noah stop" she cuts me off. "I need to tell you something"

"O-okay"

"First you have to promise me to never use alcohol as a get away again" I can tell that this is worrying Colby.

"I promise"

"Thank you" she smiles. "I came here for two reasons. One because of your celebration and two because I needed to talk to you in person"
