27 : Maybe

Narrator's POV

Noah's body lays on the gurney while the paramedics rush her into the emergency room. Nurses and doctors surround her body. All trying to examine what is happening to her.

KJ and Elliott stand by closely to their daughter. Everyone else stands back to let the doctors do their job.

Hunter is regretting everything that happened between her and Noah as she watches on. She is trembling with panic that she might have caused serious damage to her cousin.

During their fight neither of them noticed that Noah had hit her head when they fell to the ground. The adrenaline kept Noah from feeling the pain that she did not realize she was bleeding until they were pulled apart.

"I need everyone out" the doctor tells the family. They all move to the waiting room.

The family takes up the entire waiting room. Elliott and Callan won't stop pacing back and forth. Drew is sitting with Blair holding onto her as they wait to hear anything. Ava is trying to help Hunter but she is too upset with herself to accept the comfort.

Hunter walks away from Ava. She leans back on the wall and slides down slowly. Her head falls to her hands between her bent knees. Her elbows resting on her knees. You can start to hear her sobs. Her fathers kneel down and bring her into their arms.

"I didn't mean to cause this" Hunter tells her dads.

"We know sweetheart"

"I'm sorry" she continues to sob. They hug her tightly.

Many tears fall throughout the room. It is a mix of multiple emotions. The Kane and Vanderbilt family all process emotions very differently. Some are crying, some are angry, others are unable to sit still. A very few of them are calm and helping the others.

After a few hours Noah's doctor comes out. KJ and Elliott are the first to meet with him.

"Noah is doing good. Minor injuries and a few stitches but luckily no damage to her skull"

"So nothing caused any further injury or permanent damage to her previous head injury?" Elliott asks.

"No. We ran some examinations and scans just to confirm. She was very lucky that the hit was small" he answers. "She's awake if you both would like to go see her"

"Thank you doctor"

"Of course Mrs. Vanderbilt-Kanes" he walks back into the emergency room.

Noah's moms go straight to her room. With all the accidents that have happened and being the biggest donors to the hospital the Vanderbilt-Kane's have their own designated room. The family still had to follow the hospital rules of only four people in the room at a time. Everyone waited to see Noah.

Hunter was too ashamed to go see Noah, but her fathers went in with her.

"I'm so sorry Noah" Hunter apologizes to her cousin who is laying in the hospital bed with some bandaging on the head.

"This doesn't mean you won the fight" Noah answers. Hunter looks confused by Noah's response. "It was a tie"

Hunter tries to hold back her smile. When Noah smiles back Hunter doesn't hide it anymore.

"I know it was an accident Hunter" she tells her.

"Do you need anything?" Hunter asks her.

"I-Is Colby here?" she asks.

Hunter hesitates to answer, "she is" she gives in.

"Hunter I promise you that nothing physical happened between me and Juliet"
