"so..." Tanjiro drawled, staring at Mitsuri. she was holding you, a suspiciously small version of you, in her arms. he stared. "that's... my girlfriend?"

"my baby sister? yes." she gave a kittenish nod. you looked up at her, then at Tanjiro, mirroring her action.

"how did this happen?" Tanjiro asked.

"a uh.." Mitsuri trailed. a raised of her brows and she asked, "do you really have to question anything anymore?"

"fair point."

"but i need you to watch her because i'm being sent on my mission today." she explained, setting you down on the floor and nudging you forward.

instead, you cowered behind her leg like a sheepish kitten.

"can i just go with you?" your eyes gazed up at Mitsuri, pleading. she almost would've complied if she hadn't remembered how dangerous that would be.

"no, baby sister. but Tanjiro is fun." she said, picking you up just to set you down in front of her to nudge toward Tanjiro. "go on."

you glanced back at her like a coy deer before turning around and looking up at Tanjiro.

"i want pancakes and honey."

"so basically you're dating a kid?" Giyuu asked. he then blanced over at Shinobu as she giggled.

"Tomioka, you're always so hilariously oblivious!" she said with an underlying hint of teasing.

"doesn't that mean stupid?"

"i didn't say that, now. did i?"

"..no."

"nope!"

"you know, now that Y/n's a child, there's finally someone shorter than you."

"..."

Tanjiro watched them interact. he looked down at you and noticed your blank expression.

you squeezed his hand tighter, looking up at him and pointing down the hall.

"i have to use the bathroom." you said.

"oh! go right ahead!" Tanjiro exclaimed, letting go of your hand and guiding you down the hall. "if you need help, uh... call Kocho."

you nodded, walking into the bathroom and sliding the door shut.

he waited patiently, and after ten minutes, he started to worry.

"N/n? are you okay?" he knocked on the door and waited for your response. he didn't get one. "Kocho?"

she peaked into the hallway, raising a brow before taking long(for her) strides closer.

"what's wrong, Kamado?"

"she's been in there for 15 minutes." he said and pointed at the door.
