____________
The morning sun filtered through the lace curtains of Alastor's childhood home, casting patterns of light and shadow across the familiar walls. He sat across from his mother Maria in the cozy kitchen, the scent of freshly brewed coffee mingling with the warmth of home-cooked breakfast.
Maria, a gentle woman with short brown curly hair and kind eyes, looked at her son with concern etched in her features. She reached across the table and placed her hand over his, a silent gesture of comfort.
"Tell me what's on your mind, Alastor," she said softly, her voice a soothing balm to his troubled soul.
Alastor took a deep breath, struggling to find the words to convey the turmoil inside him. "It's Lucifer," he began, his voice tinged with sorrow. "He's... he's in the hospital, Mom."
Maria's expression softened with understanding. "Oh, sweetheart," she murmured, squeezing his hand gently. "What happened?"
Alastor recounted the events of the past few days, the ominous call from the hospital, and the agonizing uncertainty of not knowing Lucifer's condition. His voice wavered with emotion as he spoke, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"I don't know if he's okay," he admitted finally, his voice barely above a whisper. "I keep hoping... but I'm so scared, Mom."
Maria's heart broke for her son. She reached out and enveloped him in a comforting embrace, holding him close. "I understand, Alastor," she said softly, her voice filled with empathy. "It's okay to be scared. You're not alone in this."
Alastor buried his face against her shoulder, the weight of his fears finally finding release in his mother's embrace. He clung to her, seeking solace in the familiar scent of her perfume and the steady rhythm of her heartbeat.
"You're strong, Alastor," Maria whispered, her voice a gentle reassurance. "And Lucifer is strong too. We have to believe that he'll pull through."
Alastor nodded silently, finding comfort in his mother's words. For a moment, the weight on his shoulders felt lighter, knowing that he had her unwavering support.
They sat together in quiet companionship, the minutes passing in a peaceful embrace of love and understanding. In that moment, surrounded by the warmth of home and the love of his mother Maria, Alastor found a glimmer of hope amidst the uncertainty.

The next day dawned with a heavy sense of uncertainty. Alastor awoke, the previous night's events replaying in his mind. The call, the panic, the gut-wrenching fear— it all seemed surreal. His friends had been a comforting presence, but the doubt lingered. What if Lucifer really was gone?
As Alastor dressed, he hesitated over the turtleneck that had become his daily armor. The weather was warm, and the fabric was stifling, but it was the only way to keep his scars hidden. With a sigh, he pulled it over his head, the familiar constriction providing a small measure of comfort.
In the common area of the dorm, his friends were already gathered. Angel, Husk, and Niffty looked up as he entered, their expressions a mix of concern and curiosity.
"Hey, Al," Angel said, trying to sound casual. "How are you holding up?"
Alastor forced a smile. "I'm managing. Just... trying to take it one day at a time."
Husk gave him a sympathetic nod. "We were thinking, maybe we could all go visit Lucifer today? Just to see if there's any news, The call still seems awfully suspicious."
