The dorm room was quiet, sunlight streaming through the window, casting a warm glow over the neatly organized space. Alastor sat on the edge of his bed, fiddling with a loose thread on his sleeve. Chaz sat next to him, a little too close for comfort.
"So, Alastor," Chaz began, a playful glint in his eyes, "are you seeing anyone?"
Alastor felt a flicker of annoyance but maintained his calm demeanor. "Not really looking for anything," he replied vaguely, hoping to deflect the question.
Chaz leaned in, his interest clear. "Come on, you must have someone special. A guy like you?"
Alastor chuckled softly, keeping his gaze steady. "I like to keep my personal life private."
"Oh, mysterious," Chaz teased, inching closer. "I like that. But seriously, what's the story?"
Alastor's smile tightened. He didn't want to divulge his relationship with Lucifer, especially not to someone he'd just met. "I'm more focused on Collage right now."
Chaz raised an eyebrow, clearly not satisfied. "You can tell me. I won't bite."
Alastor shifted slightly, maintaining the space between them. "I'm sure you won't," he said lightly. "But some things are better left unsaid."
Chaz's gaze lingered, his interest unwavering. "You're intriguing, you know that? It makes me want to know more."
Alastor met his gaze, unwavering. "And what makes you think I want to be known?"
Chaz seemed momentarily taken aback, but quickly recovered, his tone playful again. "Just thought we could be friends. Maybe more?"
"Friends, huh?" Alastor echoed, standing up to create some distance. "Let's keep it that way."
Chaz smirked, standing as well. "Alright, I'll back off—for now. But don't think I won't keep trying."
Alastor offered a polite smile, leading Chaz to the door. "Persistence can be admirable, but so is knowing when to stop."
As the door closed behind Chaz, Alastor sighed, relief washing over him. He knew he needed to talk to Lucifer soon, but for now, he was just grateful for the quiet.

The pattern had become frustratingly familiar. Every day after college, Chaz found his way to Alastor's dorm, always with a bright smile and endless chatter. Despite Alastor's attempts to keep things friendly but distant, Chaz's interest was unmistakable. He'd ask personal questions, subtly probing but never crossing major boundaries.
Alastor, feeling the pressure to maintain his secret, often found himself texting Lucifer with excuses that he couldn't stay after classes. Initially, Lucifer took it in stride, believing that Alastor simply needed some time alone.
However, as the days turned into weeks, Lucifer couldn't shake the growing sense of unease. Nights that were once filled with light-hearted conversations and laughter turned into silent hours of overthinking. He replayed every interaction in his mind, wondering if he had said or done something wrong. The worry gnawed at him, casting a shadow over his otherwise confident demeanor.
Meanwhile, Chaz continued to show up, his intentions clear. Alastor navigated their interactions carefully, brushing off the persistent questions about his relationship status while internally battling the guilt of keeping Lucifer in the dark. He knew he had to address it soon, but each day he postponed it, the tension built.
