Eve stood there, her face a mask of disbelief. "I don't believe you."

Lucifer, shocked and confused, took a step back. "Eve, I—"

"How long ago?" she interrupted, her voice growing more agitated. "How long ago did this supposedly happen?"

Lucifer hesitated, the weight of his trauma making it hard to speak. "Around seven years ago."

Eve's eyes widened, her expression shifting from disbelief to anger. "Seven years ago? My girlfriend would never do such a thing! It's funny how you pick that timeline because Lilith and I were already together then. She was always so gentle, always making sure I was comfortable with everything we did."

Lucifer tried to interject, his voice trembling. "Eve, I know it's hard to believe, but—"

"No!" Eve's voice rose, her anger spilling over. "You don't get to make these accusations and think I'll just believe you. Lilith is the most caring person I've ever known. And now you're telling me she's in jail because of you? Because of something you claim happened seven years ago?"

Lucifer felt a lump form in his throat. "Eve, I swear, I'm telling the truth."

Eve's eyes narrowed, her anger turning into something colder, more cutting. "Do you have any idea what you've done? You've destroyed our lives. You think you can just walk in here, tell me this, and expect me to believe it? Do you have any proof?"

Lucifer shook his head, tears welling up in his eyes. "I don't have proof, but—"

"Stop," Eve snapped, her voice trembling with emotion. "Just stop. Take the day off tomorrow. I can't deal with this right now."

"I'm sorry, Eve," Lucifer whispered, his voice breaking.

Eve didn't respond. She turned on her heel and walked out of the back room, leaving Lucifer standing there, feeling a mix of guilt, fear, and sadness. He took a moment to collect himself before leaving the shop, his heart heavy with the weight of what had just happened.

--

Lucifer arrived back at his house, his shoulders slumped and his expression weary. As he stepped inside, Alastor looked up from the couch, noticing the strain on Lucifer's face.

"Hey, how was work?" Alastor asked, trying to sound casual but already sensing something was off.

"It was fine," Lucifer replied, but his tone was flat, lacking the usual warmth.

Charlie ran up to greet her father, her eyes bright with excitement. "Daddy! You're home!"

Lucifer forced a smile and bent down to hug her. "Hey, sweetheart. How was your day?"

"It was good! I watched my favorite movie again!" Charlie beamed, then quickly ran off to her room, leaving Lucifer and Alastor alone.

Alastor watched Lucifer carefully, concern etched on his face. "Lucifer, I can tell something happened at work. Please, talk to me."

Lucifer sighed, knowing that Alastor wouldn't let it go. He sat down on the couch, rubbing his temples. "Alright, I'll tell you."

Alastor sat beside him, listening intently as Lucifer recounted the events of the day. "I... I tried to talk to Eve about Lilith. I wanted to protect her, to let her know the truth. But she didn't believe me. She accused me of lying, of trying to ruin her life."

Lucifer's voice wavered, and tears began to well up in his eyes. "I didn't want to hurt her. I just... I thought she deserved to know. But she got so angry, and she told me to take the day off tomorrow. I don't know what to do, Alastor."
