Aegon's Pov.
112 AC.
Looking out over the city as I hold the stone railing in hand I have to keep my sigh at bay, soon it will be my 18th name day and with that comes that I will truly take my grandsire's throne. I never wished to rule, and yet here I am....... naming Daemon my heir would be the most foolish thing anyone ever did, Viserys? He's been Protector of the realm since our grandsire died and yet he's to... to gentle, he doesn't wish conflict.
What does that truly leave? Rhaenyra? No woman ever sat on the Iron Throne, am I against it? No not truly but I can name her heir, but the lords and ladies of Westeros will have to keep her on the Iron Throne and there are many who won't stand for it.
Seeing the yellow dragon fly overhead I shake my head with a small chuckle leaving my lips as I turn around and start to walk out of my chamber, as Ser Rickard falls in pace with me. Walking through the halls and down the stairs as I have my hands behind me back it takes me some time to reach the chamber.
"Wait here.""Yes your grace." Ser Rickard says as I knock on the door of the chamber before slowly walking into it, and I see a very and I mean very pregnant Aemma lay there with a fan as she tries to cool herself off. Viserys has one healthy child.... and yet he wishes more even though after Rhaenyra Aemma was never able to have another child that lived past it's first name day.
"You honor me your grace." She says teasingly and I roll my eyes. "How are you feeling? Do you wish for me to fetch you anything?" I ask her and she releases a small chuckle. "I'm fine Aegon, I think I should be asking how you are feeling.... your name day is coming up." She says and I nod my head.
"I don't know what is there supposed to say about it, I'm my grandfather's heir and soon I will take his throne." I simply say making her hum as I take a seat in the chair opposite her. "You could say how it makes you feel." She says as she bumps her foot against my knee.
"Scared for a part, what if I don't live up to him? What if I let him down?" I mumble and she gives me that kind smile of hers. "You don't need to be like him Aegon, you just need to be you. Grandsire would not have named you his heir if he didn't see what I see, what many more see." She says and I let my eyes meet hers.
"That you'll be a great king. Ah... Rhaenyra." She says before looking past me and soon I see Rhaenyra come into view as she's accompanied with the scent of dragon. "You know I don't like you to go flying while I'm in this condition.""You don't like me to go flying while you're in any condition." Rhaenyra counters as I get up from the chair. "Your grace, princes." Alicent says and I give he a small smile. "Alicent."
"Good morrow, Alicent."
"Did you sleep?" Rhaenyra asks her mother. " I slept."
"I will see you later." I start as I lean down and place a kiss against Aemma's forehead before moving to Rhaenyra. "And I will see you at the meeting." I say to her before walking towards the exit of the room.
"Lady Alicent."
"Your Grace."......................
"My lords. The growing alliance among the Free Cities has taken to styling itself "the Triarchy." Lord Corlys speaks as he opens a map while I look at it as I rise from my seat while Viserys eats a egg. "They have massed on Bloodstone and are presently ridding the Stepstones of its pirate infestation."
