The Love of a Dragon

Part 16

Aegon's Pov, 

Some Day's Later. 

Viserys and Lord Corlys had me as good as bed written these last days, Maester Mellos stitched my wounds up and cleaned them. Now we've been back for a few days and they are I don't know skinning the bear and the White Hart probably. 

But I've grown sick and tired of lying in bed, trying to get out soon the door opens and it makes me raise my brow as I soon see Rhaenyra come into view. "And here I thought you were thaught how to knock." I state as I sit up in my bed and she lets her eyes move over my bandaged chest. 

"I thought you were growing tired of lying in bed." She says and I release a hum. "And I thought you were still being a sour little puppy, heard your conversation with Jason Lannister went well." 

"He wishes to get rid of me, for a stupid rock, castle or whatever." 

"We are born for many things Rhaenyra wedding out of love is hardly ever one of those, it's for an army, fleet, dragons, coin, castle whatever you can think of............ love can grow over time." I say and she shakes her head as she fills two cups with wine. 

"Will you love Laena." She asks me and I don't know, Leana will be the mother of my trueborn children..... if she gives me a son he will one day become king. "I will love her because she'll be the mother of my children, just like you will love the father of yours. It doesn't have to be a love that they write songs about Rhaenyra because often times those songs end in pain and agony..... it needs to be a love that you can build on together." I say as she hands me a cup and takes a seat on the bed next to me. 

"If you didn't have to wed for duty, would you have wed someone else?" 

"I would have." I say before drinking the wine while she releases a deep sigh. "Father came with the idea to send me on a tour, to make my own match." 

"More choice than many other Lady's have gotten in their life, he's right go out there and find your own match."  I simply say and she turns to look at me. "So that if I wed he can send me off to who knows where." 

"Or your husband comes and live here I don't know, it's up to you isn't it. Wed someone you wish to wed." 

"I used to wish to wed someone..... it doesn't matter anyway you should rest." She says before standing up and leaving the room as quickly as she entered it.  She needs to wed, we all have to wed........ Me, Rhaenyra or anyone else doesn't stand above that duty. 

The Next Night. 

I am king and yet I was the last to know the news that Alicent last night gave birth! Pushing the wall away with a grunt I let my eyes move over the dark room as few candles are on, walking in I closer the entrance again before walking towards the bed. 

"You should be resting Aegon." Alicent says as she sits there with our child in a blanket and I shake my head as I take a seat next to her while biting back my groan from the pain that moves through my body. 

"If I knew sooner, I would have come earlier." I say as she leans her head against my shoulder while I look at the peaceful sleeping face of the small babe. "Can I?" I ask and she hands the child towards me making a bigger smile appear on my face. 

"Hello my other little dragon." I softly say. "It's a girl..... I'm sorry I couldn't give you another son" Alicent says and I place a kiss against the top of her head. "I don't care if it's a boy or a girl I care about that they are healthy and loved......that your both healthy. What did you name her?" I ask as the small girl jaws before her eyes slowly open. 

"Helaena," 

"Helaena, a name fit for a little dragon....... don't worry I'm here now and just like your brother I will love you from this day till the end of times." I softly say before leaning down and placing a kiss against her forehead. "You should rest." I say to Alicent as I lean back into the bed and kick my shoes off. 

"I was going to say the same to you." 

"Well we can both rest, while I will hold this little one close to me." I say as I get comfortable and have Helaena's violet eyes stare at me. "Even though it seems like she's had enough rest already." I say and Alicent releases a small laugh as she gets comfortable and pulls her breast out making my eyes move towards it. 

"She'll be hungry." She says and I hand her Helaena back who's well quick to latch onto the tit! "Well can't really blame her now can we." I say with a grin making Alicent roll her eyes. "I heard you and Lady Leana will be seeing one another in a couple days." She says and I nod my head. 

"Yeah, in 4 months it will be here name day and the wedding will be a fortnight after that I think Lord Corlys is going to make it the wedding of the century." Leaves my lips as I place my head on the pillow and look up at the ceiling. 

"Must be nice, than you don't have to sneak in here anymore for sex." She says with a bite to it making me raise my brow. "You think I'm here just for the sex? And here I thought you knew me better........ I'm here because I wish to be here, I'm here for our children." I counter making a heavy and I mean heavy sigh leave her lips.

"Forgive me," 

"There's nothing to forgive, now you feed the littlest dragon and then you can hand her to her father." I say with a soft smile on my lips as I look towards Alicent only to have her brown eyes already staring back at me. 

Some Day's Later, 

"Leana will be arriving in the morrow, Your Grace." Lord Corlys says and I nod my head as we sit in the small council room. "The wedding, we thought about 7 days of tourneys and feast to celebrate the union of House Targaryen and House Velaryeon. Your grace." Lord Lyonel says while I move my fingertip over the edge of the goblet in front of me. 

"Seven days of Tourneys and feasts, and here you where all complaining when I wished to build outposts on the stepstones." I simply say as I look at the men around me. "This is the wedding people will talk about for years, also Lord Corlys and his house will pay for half of the expenses." Viserys says pulling a hum from my lips. 

"I think your coin would be spent better somewhere else, me and Leana will discuss this in the morrow when we sail out." I simply say before drinking the Redwyne wine that's in my goblet. "Sail out? But I thought you both would spend you time here in King's Landing, your grace." 


"Leana and I many times spend our time talking about the dragons, she has always had quite the interest in Vhagar I've heard that she nested on an island off of Dragonstone......... as the daughter of Princess Rhaenys and since Lady Laena will become the Queen I think it's only fitting we would try and get her to bond with a dragon that also once belonged to a queen." 

"Ser Harrold and Ser Steffon will accompany you both, I for one don't need another incident like the one we had on your hunt." Viserys says pulling a chuckle from my lips. "It shows the king's strength and that the god's favor him, surviving the attack of a bear over 900 pounds and then killing the White Hart." Lord Corlys is quick to add while I slowly stand up. 

"Ser Harrold and Ser Steffon will accompany me and Leana on our journey, not that it will do much if Vhagar tries to burn the both of us. Maybe she'll remember me, father often took me with him on dragonback." I say making a smile form on Viserys his lips. 

"The only time you wished to spend time with him is when he promised to take you flying, all the other times you were found practicing your sword skills or with grandsire." He says and I nod my head. 

"We are born from the skies, and we will remain there until it's our time to burn.......... they say the salt courses through the blood of the Velaryons, through ours flows fire."
