Aegon's Pov,

The moons have been slowly but surely passing by, it's a little more than half a year now that Aemma has passed. Releasing a sigh as I sit in the god's wood I soon see Alicent walk over to me. "Your grace."

"Haven't we talked about this? You can call me Aegon, Alicent." I say as she takes a seat next to me, I've found Alicent more often joining me at night in the god's wood. In a way it brings me comfort and she's smart, kind and beautiful. Me wedding is a topic that's been coming up for years now, and soon I won't be able to stop it anymore.... it's not like I don't wish to wed... to have a woman to love and hold, one who will bare my children.

But I'm afraid, the Iron Throne is a dangerous thing, and it's a danger my wife and children will share in. Not only that but I lost my mother when she brought me into this world, we lost Aemma in the childbed I don't wish to have to see my wife ever go through something like that.

"Am I boring you?" Alicent says and it pulls me out of my thoughts. "No, forgive me." I say as I turn to look at her with a small smile that she soon returns. "It's your name day in a fortnight, it's the talk of the Red Keep... they say lords and ladies from all over the realm are riding this way for your coronation." She says and she's right it's my name day in a fortnight and with that I will take the Iron Throne.

"Even more who wish to wish me to court their daughter." I mumble as I turn to look back towards the peaceful sky. "You do not wish to wed?"

"I wish to wed, to hold and love but a woman should not wish to wed me." I say and she looks at me taken back by my words. "Y-your to be king, a dragon rider and a renowned knight every girl wishes to wed you." She says and it makes me hum.

"That is because they see the feasts, the dragons, the title queen they see all the good, and yet if someone tries to usurper me my children will be put to the sword." I simply say as I see Vermithor fly over and towards the garden.

"Do you think someone would wish to do that? Everyone speaks always with love and fondness about you." She says while I get up and hold my hand out for her. And well I think her father would be one of those people who would usurper me if he could.

"Come on let's walk a bit, if you do not have to go home that is." I say and she looks around for a bit before slowly taking my hand as I pull her up. Walking towards the gardens as for some reason I keep holding her hand it doesn't take long before the large form of Vermithor comes into view and Alicent stops walking.

"He won't hurt you, I promise." I softly say as I walk backwards and pull her with me while she gets more and more nervous the closer we get to the Bronze Fury. "Trust me." I say just above a whisper as I take our intertwined hands and hold them towards Vermithor's snout who's releasing a low purring sound.

"Just trust me." I softly say before I lay her hand on his snout as mine lays over hers. "I-I never touched a dragon." Alicent nervously says and i release a chuckle. "I'm surprised Rhaenyra hasn't forced you to fly Syrax with her."

"She always speaks of it, but I'm quite content on the ground." She says as she turns to look at me and I can't stop the chuckle that leaves my lips. "You never wished to ride a dragon?" I say as her eyes start to search mine and I lean down as my lips ghost over hers.

"Tell me Alicent, have you ever thought about mounting a dragon and riding it." I whisper against her lips. "I-I have, b-but I should go to bed Your grace." She nervously says before quickly walking away from me in the cover of night while a frown settles on my face. Have I been misjudging the time we've been spending together?

"Did I just make a fool out of myself?" I ask the dragon next to me who just leans more into my touch while he continues to purr. "Thanks for the answer."
