The Love of a Dragon

Part 24

Aegon's Pov, 

Flying through the sky towards Driftmark as Rhaena sits before me I have one arm wrapped around her while the other holds the reins while Baela sits behind Laena as Vhagar flies beside us. 

Moondancer is quite to small for Baela to fly her on her own, doesn't stop her from continuing to ask us about it. They love to be in the sky just like me and Laena love it, we often times take them with us and like now it's much faster and more fun that to fly to Driftmark than to have to spend time on a ship. 

Seeing the island come into view in the distance Vermithor starts to descend towards the beach while some laughter leaves Rhaena's lips. "Dracarys!" I hear being yelled and I raise my brow as I look towards Vhagar who's letting her flames come out while Leana is looking towards us with her grin. "Can we do that too!" 

Placing my hand on Vermithor's scale I don't even have to tell him before a roar leaves his lips that's being followed up by a sea of flames that he let's go up in the air while I look back towards my wife with a grin on my face. 

"You didn't even have to speak!" Rhaena says as she looks back at me with wide eyes and I nod my head. "Me and Vermithor have been together for a long time, we share a strong bond." I say as Vermithor lands on the beach and Vhagar soon follows. 

"Will I ever have that?" 

"I've told you many times that you just like Aemond will have your dragon, and than with years you will also share a bond like this with it.... now come on your grandmother must be happy to see you again." I say as I start to climb down the saddle, as she also climbs down I soon lift her the last part before placing her down on the sand. Walking over to Vhagar I help Baela off before carefully helping my wife. "You always have to show off." 

"Me? You where the one yelling Dracarys........ I think you're the one showing off." I say as her feet hit the sand and she turns in my direction with a raised brow. "Am I now? Well my belly is already showing off with how big it's gotten." She counters as her arms wrap around my neck and her words make a chuckle leave me. 

"Your belly is growing because our child is growing inside of it. And soon she or he will join us here." 

"Do you love her more?" Laena inquires, her eyes searching mine for the truth. I exhale deeply, our foreheads touching, a silent moment passing between us. "My love for you is real, Laena" I confess with sincerity. "It exists alongside, not in spite of, the affection I have for her. Your place in my heart is irreplaceable; you are my wife, and my love for you is eternal." 

"You can have quite a way with words when you wish." She counters making a laugh escape my lips. "I can, but one does not replace the other............ the children she gave me do not get more love than the ones you gave me, I know this may have not been what you signed up for or that I've kept it going for a long time." 

"But you love her." She finishes for me while her eyes search mine and I nod my head. "Me and Rhaenyra weren't enough for you, well they do say the blood of the dragon grows wild and reckless. You give them all equal of your attention and love Aegon, you give me your attention and love, I do not care that you share your bed with her. I just wished you would have told me sooner." 

"I know, but for now it's just us..... our daughters and your mother here. So better get going before she sends out a search party for us."  I say before leaning down and pecking her lips.... but she's quick to pull me back and place her lips longer against mine.
