Sunghoon pushed the door to his dorm building open, glad to be finally back at university.

Home had been one of his least favorite places for some time now, but as the eldest alpha son of the Park family it was his duty to come home at least on the semester breaks, attend gatherings with the other families of the Korean high society, and build connections to the future leaders.

After all, he was supposed to be one of those leaders in the future as well.

He hated it.

He despised this future with every fiber of his being, but he didn't know what else to do or how to break out of it.

He used to love it, used to be content with the path that had been laid out for him since the day he had presented as an alpha.

However, Seri's death had thrown him into a spiral of misery and despair, and in many ways it had opened his eyes to the reality he was living in - a reality where alphas were the leaders, taking over jobs as politicians, chaeobals, and other governing functions, while omegas were the caretakers, being only allowed to work as cooks, teachers, or just stay-at-home moms or dads. And above all, omegas were just there to please the alphas.

Betas were the balance of the society and took over all the other jobs that alphas were too good to take and omegas weren't allowed to pursue. They were policemen, firefighters, lawyers, judges, dancers, entertainers, or just simple office clerks. However, the police was led by an alpha and so was any other institution.

In the end, everything was controlled by alphas.

And Sunghoon hated it.

This society had taken Seri away from him, and he would never forgive them for that. He didn't know how yet, but he had to get revenge.

Those were the thoughts swirling around in his mind as he climbed the stairs to the fourth floor. That's where his room was located, at the very end of the hall. It was spacious and way too large for him alone, but he was the descendant from one of the richest families in the country, so there had been no questions asked when he had requested to stay in a room alone.

He wasn't really on good terms with other alphas, especially since the incident with Seri, and betas and alphas normally didn't room together anyway.

The beta dormitories were located on the second and third floors, while the first floor had a little shop, where one could buy daily necessities, a library, a gym and several study rooms. All the dorm buildings were designed like that, putting the alphas at the top floor to make it clear from the very beginning who were the ones in control.

The omegas were on the other side of the campus, a safe distance from the other secondary genders, studying what society deemed suitable for them to learn. At least that kept them safe, which Sunghoon was glad about.

He came closer to his door and halted abruptly. The door was slightly ajar and rummaging could be heard from inside the room. His senses heightened, his nose sniffing to see if there was a dangerous scent. But all he could sense was - nothing. He curled his eyebrow. Or was there a soft and featherlike scent? Something sweet and calming at the same time. As soon as he had smelled it, it was gone, and Sunghoon wasn't sure if there even had been this scent to begin with.

He quickly approached the door and burst into his room. A high squeak was heard from his left, followed by a loud thump. Sunghoon's eyes followed the sound up to the gallery that was the bedroom part of this room, mirroring his own part on the right. Two fox-like eyes were blinking down at him from between the bars of the balustrade that was installed to prevent the occupants from falling down.
