Sunoo closed his phone after texting Sunghoon that he had arrived. Jungwon, Niki and him stepped out of the train station and looked around. Usually one of their parents would come to pick them up. Sunoo was surprised that not only one, but two of their parents were there - his mother and Niki's father.
Jungwon and Niki looked just as puzzled as Sunoo felt.
They stepped towards their parents and Niki's father greeted them with a huge smile.
Sunoo's mother, usually very cheerful and beaming, just nodded at them with a pressed smile.
The omega raised his eyebrow in suspicion. Something felt off.
"Hello boys! Sunoo, I'm here to pick you up so we can go home quickly."
"Ok..."
He looked at the others to say goodbye. The boys waved at him and Jungwon gestured to call him later.
Sunoo nodded before following his mother to her car.
She started the engine as soon as they were seated, not even waiting for Sunoo to buckle up - which she usually did.
"Mom, is everything alright?"
"Mhm."
She focussed on the road while giving him this short answer. Sunoo was wondering what had happened to make his normally sweet and bubbly mother be so quiet and distant towards him.
He decided that he would ignore his feelings and talk with her like he always did. Maybe she just had a bad day.
"How is everyone? I'm sorry I didn't come home for Christmas. My heat hit and yeah, it was unfortunate. But I'm so happy to come see you all! How are Ri and Ji? Are they still studious? Ohh, and will grandm-"
"Sunoo."
His mother spoke firmly, but quietly. Still, the omega stopped talking immediately.
They had stopped at a red light and as Sunoo looked over at his mother now, he saw how she was clutching to the wheel.
What was going on?
"Mom? What's-"
"Sunoo."
The omega clamped his mouth shut. Her tone didn't leave him any other option.
"Your grandmother will be over for lunch, she missed you and wanted to see you. After she leaves we have to talk. Your father, me and you."
Sunoo furrowed his eyebrows.
"What do we need to talk about? Did something happen?"
The light turned green and his mother pressed down on the gas pedak. Leaving him hanging for an answer.

They arrived at their house at the outskirts of the small town a few minutes later.
His mother parked the car in the designated spot and exited it without another word.
Sunoo followed quietly, his mind running wild as to why his mother was acting so strange and what exactly was going on.
They entered the house and took off their jackets.
His mother didn't say anything any more as she took off her shoes and made her way into the house.
The omega realized that this house didn't feel very homely anymore. He pulled out his phone to check if Sunghoon had answered, but the message was still only on 'sent'. Sunoo pouted and pocketed his phone again.
