I walked into the great hall with Cho and Luna during the muggy morning hours and I couldn't stop scowling. I haven't seen Sylvia since the night of the party and it doesn't seem that she has gone out of her way at all to try and find me. Last night I slept in Theo's dorm. Since he doesn't have a bunk buddy and there's two beds in the dorm, it allowed me and him to sleep peacefully.
Sitting at the Ravenclaw table, scents of delicious pastries and breakfast items filled the great hall. Murmurs and whispers talked about the upcoming quidditch match while owls flew through, dropping packages and letters. The first match of the quidditch season is Gryffindor against Slytherin which Ginny had insisted I go with her.
A burgundy letter dropped upon my plate, interrupted my thoughts.
Nitara Hyde
You have been selected as the second-place winner for the pumpkin carving contest. Because of the misfortune events that had occurred we had just managed this letter to meet you now. Two tickets are placed upon this envelope, you and one other friend will be able to get front row tickets to today's quidditch match. Hope you have the best of fun.
Minerva McGonagall
"Bloody hell!" I shot up.
"What! What's going on?!" worried faces appeared on my peers' faces before being replaced with confusion.
"I just got the front row tickets to today's game!"
"No way really?!" Me and my Cho discussed today's plans and the upcoming quidditch games while enjoying our meal. Once the clock hit 9:30 AM though, I had to excuse myself to go find Ginny and inform her of the good news.
"What made you so happy this morning, mamas?"
"Excited to see us beat the Slytherins down into the bloody dirt today?"
"No offence..." George in Fred engulfed me in questions as I walked over to the Gryffindor table.
"Oh, you wish for a big boy. Me and Ginny have front row tickets to see the Slytherins beat your arse!" I tell them while showing off my brand-new tickets for the game.
"Bloody lucky you are!" Fred exclaimed while flashing me a wink. "Ginny's over at the end of the table by the way. Have fun seeing your house loose!"
"Oh, you wish!" I flashed them my middle finger –causing an eruption of laughter-- before making my way over to Ginny.
"Hey Babes! You will not believe what I just got us!" By now most of the students are making their way out of the hall and to the quidditch pitch. After a grin of joy, I received from Ginny, we followed the crowd.
"You go pick out our seats, I'm going to go find Miles and wish him good luck."
Making my way down the bleachers, I find myself in front of the boy's locker room where many players are filing into. Scanning the many faces, I find Miles in a group with one the teams' beaters, Lucian Bole, Cassius Warrington-a chaser, and Draco Malfoy.
My heart dropped.
What on Merlin's green earth is he doing here? Why is he in uniform?! Oh, you gotta be kidding me.
Before I could even contemplate the decision to turn around, Miles spotted me calling me over.
He must have not heard what happened I guess.
Thankfully to the amount of concealer I applied to my neck this morning, it was unnoticed that anything happened between me, and the new Slytherin seeker a couple nights ago.
Walking up to the group, the snooty blonde followed Miles' eyes and to his misfortune saw me. If looks could kill, I would be six feet under by that glare he gave me. Before I could even walk up to my brother though, Malfoy stormed away and into the changing room
What a dick.
"Hey Nitara! Are you excited for today's game? We Just got a new seeker so hopefully all goes well!" Miles said while eyeing where Malfoy was just apparent.
"I see that. How did he get on the team? I thought we had a pretty good seeker to begin with?"
"He got us all new broomsticks and jerseys! Can you believe that? Malfoy's dad paid for it all!" He exclaimed while turning around, showing off his new green jersey in pristine shape that flashed the word 'Bletchley'.
Of course.
"Wow that's so great I hope we win!" I attempted a fake smile. "Me and Ginny have front row seats so we'll see everything!"
"Wow that's amazing Tara!" He said, flashing me a toothy grin. "I have to get ready so wish us luck!"
"Anytime champ." I said hugging him before making my way back to Weasley. Moving through the many students finding their seats, I am met with the redhead blushing intensely
"Bloody hell Nitara! Did you see the way Harry looked at me! He's so perfect!" She whispered into my ear while absolutely fangirling over her brother's best friend.
"I'm sure he's in love with you!" I teased her which caused a punch to my left shoulder. By now players were mounting their brooms and getting into their place on the field. Ginny conveniently sat us on the Slytherin side. Normally this wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that right in front of me, not even 10 feet away, flew that familiar platinum blonde.
Oh boy.

To say we were losing was an understatement. The roar of the crowd echoed across the pitch as Gryffindor dominated the match. The scoreboard read 140 Gryffindor, Slytherin 50 thanks to the bloody relentlessness of the Gryffindor chasers. Harry Potter zoomed through the air, eyes locked on the golden snitch with Malfoy right behind him. The blonde tried to rally our team but we were struggling to keep up with Potter's nimbus 2000 cutting through the air like a knife.
Ironic. I thought at least the new brooms Malfoy's dad got us were good?!
Fred and George kept the Bludgers at bay, ensuring their teammates had clear paths to the goal post.
I held my breath as Harry's hand closed around the tiny golden ball. The whistle blew signalling the end of the match.
Gryffindor erupted in cheers drowning out the groans of my fellow defeated Slytherins. The scoreboard flashed its final score: Gryffindor 290, Slytherin 50.
Ginny jumped up from her seat to join the teammates of Harry Potter, lifting him onto their shoulders, as red and gold confetti rained from the stands.
The victory was theirs and they made sure to savour every second of their bloody win.
On the other hand, my fellow teammates trudged off the pit.
One of the players seethed with frustration, slamming his broomstick onto the ground. The bright white against the dark forest green jersey reading 'Malfoy' determined who it was.
His usual grin was replaced with a look of bitter disappointment.
"Watch out Mudblood." He pushed past me, slamming my shoulder along the way.
What a dumbarse.
The rest of the Slytherin team followed, heads hung low and shoulders slumped.
Back at the common room, the mood was sombre and tense. The usual green and silver decorations seemed duller. Pansy tried to console the bratty blonde, but to my amusement, he brushed her off too. Blaise and Theo sat in a corner whispering among themselves trying to dissect what went wrong with the match.
It seemed as much as this loss caused misery among our team, selfishly, I was happy most of the previous events had been forgotten and been replaced with discussion among small groups on strategies for the next match.
Climbing into my bunk, Sylvia was not apparent to my advantage. Laying back, I am happy to get some undisturbed sleep for next week.
My birthday.
