3rd POV

Akemi was horrified.

Lightning struck, and ashes disintegrated, leaving no remains of the woman who once stood before them. La Signora, the 8th Fatui Harbinger, has now perished from this world.

Akemi's eyes widened as the events unfolded before her. Her breath hitched in her throat, and the colour drained from her face. Her heart raced, a mix of fear and revulsion gripping her. The horrific scene etched itself into her mind, and for a moment, she was frozen in disbelief.

The memory of the cruel sight made her stomach churn, and she struggled to come to terms with what she had just witnessed. Her mind raced, but the shock was so intense that thoughts eluded her grasp. All she could do was try to make sense of the gruesome reality that had been forced upon her.

Akemi's chest tightened with each laboured breath, each exhale causing her stomach to clench as if gripped by an iron fist. She desperately clung to the act of breathing, attempting to anchor herself in the rhythmic rise and fall of her chest. Yet, the moment she heard a stranger's voice asking if she was alright, an unsettling realization dawned on her-

She had become mute.
The girl could feel the words caught in her throat, the syllables trapped like caged birds. No sound could escape her lips, and fear crept in like a shadow, clouding her mind with its cold tendrils.

Unthinking and reacting purely on instinct, Akemi's body moved independently of her mind's rational faculties. The chaos around her felt overwhelming, and the urge to escape consumed her every thought. She acted on the spur of the moment, pulling herself out of the situation with a surge of frantic energy fuelled by panic and hysteria.

Without sparing a glance behind her, she stumbled through the estate, blindly making her way to the exit. Her only goal was to put as much distance as possible between herself and the conflict that had triggered her panic attack.

With the flurry of emotions swirling inside her, Akemi's mind was so preoccupied that she couldn't see how flustered she appeared to an outsider. In her haste to leave, she tried to speak, to say something, anything. But when her lips parted, no words came out. Just a silent, empty exhale.

"Akemi!" Paimon called out, but all fell silent on thee mage's ears.

As the estate's doors closed behind her, Akemi's panic began to escalate, consuming her attention and leaving her oblivious to the fallen soldier lying on the floor. It was only when her gaze fell upon them that she inhaled sharply, her horror surging within her.
Instinctively, she fought to suppress the screams that threatened to escape her, the sight of the lifeless figure adding to her terror.

Overwhelmed and in a state of mental shutting down, Akemi found herself responding on autopilot. Before she could fully comprehend the situation, her body moved, propelling her forward until she found herself sitting on the icy stone steps of the estate. Her back hunched, and her hands pressed flat against the cold surface, desperate to find an anchor in the physical world.

Her heart pounded so violently against her chest, as if it were trying to escape its confinement. Akemi could feel a strange tingling sensation spreading through her face and arms, a disorienting numbness that made her body feel like an empty void. One of her hands was unresponsive, refusing to yield to her attempts to move it.

Even though the sensations coursing through her body were unsettling, a part of her couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity.

It was as if this chaotic mix of thoughts and feelings was somehow reminiscent of past experiences, and the fear of what she was experiencing threatened to overwhelm her. The urge to cry out in desperation was strong, but she held back the tears, fighting to regain control.
