A/N

Okay I know I said that it hasn't even been 2 full weeks when I said that I wouldn't be posting any chapters for the next month, but after a week not doing it I kinda realised that this book is a form of entertainment for me and I don't like putting it on hold. 💀

3rd POV

"Come on Akemi, this is going to be a long boat ride are you sure you don't wanna eat?"

Akemi walked ahead, refusing to look back at her comrades. Such stubborn behaviour is what Aether should have expected from the pyro mage, but that didn't mean he still couldn't fuss over his friend.

The mage in question let out an upset grunt, her arms folded as she walks through the dirt path. "I can't!" She protested. "I'll just vomit it all out anyway!"

A deadpanned expression formed on Aether's face, followed up with him gently massaging his temples. He wasn't asking much from Akemi. Aether only wished that Akemi could consume something rather than nothing.

Instead, she chose to withhold eating, believing that doing so would mean that the effects of her motion sickness would be weakened when they take a ship back to Liyue.

His gaze lingered on the mage for a moment, noticing the excessive layers of clothing she wore. "You sure are bundled up," he remarked with a curious glance.

Akemi tugged her cloak tighter around herself, the fabric wrapped snugly around her like a scarf. "The humid air mixed with all the electro energy irritates my skin," she explained, her voice slightly muffled by the layers. "I just want to stay as warm and dry as possible."

The traveller nodded in understanding, offering her a gentle pat on the head. "Makes sense. Beidou said we'd set sail in the afternoon, so we should be back in Liyue before too long."

As they continued along the path, Aether glanced over at her, curiosity sparking in his eyes. "So, what's your plan once we're back in Liyue?"

Akemi pondered for a moment. "First, I'll need to send out a few letters—Diluc, Amber, and someone named Tighnari from Sumeru."

Aether raised an eyebrow vaguely remembering the name. If he was correct, Akemi said that he was a scholar specialising in plants. "Tighnari? Why him?"

"Last time I was struck by lightning, Tighnari handled my recovery for the first month, then I continued my treatment in Fontaine," she said, lightly tracing the lightning-shaped scar on her face with a finger. "I might need his help again with... this."

Aether nodded thoughtfully, his eyes flickering toward the scar. "Makes sense."

After a stretch of quiet, he took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts. "You know, once we get to Liyue, maybe we should take a break. There are a few things we'll need to take care of while we're there." His tone was careful, as if he had been mulling it over for a while.

Akemi immediately came to a halt, catching Aether off guard. At first he thought that he said something wrong, but quickly dismissed it when he admired the cute excited look on Akemi's face. "THE CHASM!"

"H-huh!?" Aether sweatdropped, unsure of how to respond. "Chasm?"

Hastily nodding, Akemi held Aether's hands in hers, eyes sparkling with a blazing passion. "Remember!? My reward for helping in the battle with Osial was to have access in the Chasm! Isn't that exciting!?"

"W-well I don't know much about the chasm Akemi." Replied Aether, gently squeezing Akemi's hand back before letting go, meekly scratching the back of his head. "You can tell me more about it."
