Living in Brooklyn had its ups and downs for the two best friends. One thing Chloe really hated was the fact that there was so many people and buildings and there wasn't anywhere natural to explore. That is the main reason why Chloe had piled up two mountain bikes into the bed of her truck and woken Beca up before the sun rose so they could revisit nature.

Beca, reluctant at first, knew she couldn't say no to Chloe. That's why she tried to have the best attitude and enjoy the ride with her best friend.

"Are we almost there?" Beca said from the passenger seat, around an hour into the drive.

"About half way." Chloe said, not averting her eyes from the road.

"Damn, are you taking us to Mexico or something?" Beca joked, earning a small laugh from Chloe.

"No, just relax. We'll be there soon."

Sure enough, an hour later, Chloe pulled off onto a dirt road where they parked and got their bikes unloaded. Chloe insisted they wore helmets, much to Beca's dislike, and they set off on the long trail.

It had been a long time since the two friends did anything like this. They usually didn't have time or energy to get outside and ride anymore like they used to. Chloe figured that weekend would be a great chance for them to escape the busy city.

The trail was pretty steep, both going uphill and downhill at some parts. The two rode side by side, making conversation and laughing as they rode alongside the cliffside of the mountain.

The further up they got, the more narrow the path got. Eventually, Beca had to ride slightly in front of Chloe since two bikes would not fit next to each other.

As they were almost at the top of the mountain, Beca hit a big rock and flew, full speed off of her bike and onto the path in front of her.

"Beca!" Chloe yelled, stopping her bike and taking off her helmet before rushing over to aid the girl.

"Are you okay?" she knelt down beside her, assessing her injuries. "Oh my god, you're bleeding!"

Beca's knee had a big gash on it and blood was oozing down her leg. Her arm was also a little bloody and she looked slightly dazed.

"Can you sit up for me?" Chloe asked calmly, not wanting to cause any more worry.

"Mmm" she groaned, trying to sit up but not being able to.

"Let me help." Chloe grabbed underneath her legs and around her back, carrying her bridal style and sitting her down against a rock.

"What hurts?" Chloe asked, taking Beca's helmet off and setting it aside.

"Head." Beca muttered, immediately causing concern to grow in Chloe's mind. Concussions were no joke.

"Okay, look at me sweetheart." Chloe said, trying to see if her pupils were different sizes. Seeing as she couldn't tell, she moved on to access her other injuries.

She grabbed a piece of gauze and some tape from her first aid bag and applied it to Beca's knee. She winced in pain, but Chloe soothed her though it until it stopped stinging so much. She then did the same to her arm and put her stuff away in her bag.

"Do you think you can stand up for me?" Chloe asked her, earning a doubtful look from Beca.

"I can try." Beca said, leaning on Chloe for support as she stood up.

"Beca, I don't think you can bike back. It's pretty far." Chloe said, holding the girl upright and noticing the condition she was in was not good to bike 10 miles down the mountain.

"How will we get down?" Beca said.

As if on cue, they heard a side by side, rolling through in the distance. Chloe helped Beca sit back down on the rock while she moved their bikes and flagged them down.

"Excuse me!" Chloe waved, causing the vehicle to slow down. "Could you help us? My friend got hurt and I don't think she can bike back down."

"Of course." the man in the side by side said, turning the vehicle off and hopping out to help load the bikes into the back. "I'm Kevin, by the way."

"I'm Chloe, that's Beca." she said, pointing over at the injured brunette.

"She doesn't look so good. I think you should take her to the hospital when we get back down"

"Yeah, that's my plan." Chloe said while walking over to the brunette.

"Hold onto me Becs." Chloe said softly, picking up the girl and putting her into the back seat before hopping in next to her.

The whole way back, Beca leaned against Chloe, her pain becoming more intense as the adrenaline wore off. As soon as they reached Chloe's truck, Kevin helped Chloe load the bikes and supplies back into the back and he opened the door for Chloe to carry Beca into the truck. She quickly thanked Kevin and buckled the brunette in.

"Becs, I think you need to go to the hospital. You look pretty out of it." Chloe mentioned after a few minutes of driving.

"I'm fine." Beca said, trying her best to keep her eyes open.

"No, you're not. We're almost there anyways."

As they pulled in, Chloe parked and helped Beca out of the truck, carrying her inside where some doctors greeted her with a wheelchair to set the brunette in. Chloe got her checked in and they went to one of the rooms to wait.

They checked her for concussion, seeing as it was only mild and she could rest up at home. Chloe sat next to Beca and held her hand the whole time while she got her knee stitched up and bandaged. It was getting late when they were discharged from the hospital, so Chloe decided to find a nearby hotel to stay the night.

"I'm sorry." Beca said as they laid in their hotel bed, trying to fall asleep.

"For what?" Chloe asked groggily.

"Ruining our trip."

"Beca." Chloe said, turning on her side to face her friend. "You didn't ruin anything. Accidents happen. I'm just glad you're okay."

"Thanks for taking care of me, Chlo." she said, inching closer to cuddle up next to the ginger.

"Anytime." she said, cuddling close to Beca, feeling grateful that she was okay.
