(Y/N), now a young toddler of three, played on the lush grass near a small village nestled in the serene landscape of the Land of Fire. The air was fresh, cleaner than anything he had ever experienced on Earth. It filled his lungs with a crisp, invigorating sensation. The sun warmed his small body just enough to be pleasant, and the scent of pine trees mingled with the faint aroma of wildflowers, creating a picturesque scene unlike any other. The endless stretch of green, dotted with towering trees which swayed gently in the breeze, was a sight that would be engraved in his memory forever.
(Y/N) stared at his reflection in a large puddle of water, noting his new appearance. His eyes were a warm brown which he had inherited from his mother, while his hair was fluffy and white, having a striking resemblance to Jiraiya of the Sannin. He ran his tiny hand through his hair and sighed. Being Tsunade and Jiraiya's secret love child made him an adorable kid, especially with his chubby, squishy face. Despite his cute appearance, his mother, Tsunade, did not favor him. She either ignored him, yelled at him, or told him to leave her alone.
(Y/N) remembered the times he had tried to bond with her. He had made her silly little crafts, but she never accepted them. One memory stood out vividly. He had insisted she take one of his projects, only to deeply regret it afterward. He flashed back to the moment where she had thrown his creation against the wall, causing it to break. This made him cry silently as he did not want to irk her even more. This Tsunade was not the fifth Hokage he admired, but a depressed woman with hemophobia, haunted by the losses of her brother and lover.
"Why did you destroy it? I made it especially for you!" (Y/N) had yelled back, his small body shaking with emotion he could not yet control. He had spent hours on it, trying to make it perfect, only to have it crushed to pieces.
"This thing is useless! You shouldn't have insisted. This is your fault!" Tsunade had screamed, storming out of the room. (Y/N) had then dropped to his knees, trying to fix his project, but it only got worse. Eventually, he gave up and cried even more. Tsunade had been his favorite character, and her harsh treatment towards him had shattered his fantasies and expectations.
The flashback ended abruptly when (Y/N) felt something slithering over his leg. He looked down to see a snake. Normally, with Orochimaru being a menace, he would have been cautious and rushed to his mother or guardian, Shizune. However, he recognized this 'nope rope' as a garter snake. The snake blended perfectly with its environment, indicating it was a normal wild snake.
A smile spread across (Y/N)'s face. He had loved snakes in his past life and had always wanted one as a pet, but his previous father had a deadly fear of them. Before he could get sad thinking about his past family, the snake climbed further up his lap, making him laugh. He carefully picked it up by its larger part to avoid injury, but the snake coiled defensively into an S-shape, ready to strike.
(Y/N) tilted his head, waiting patiently for the snake to calm down. After a minute of mutual staring, the snake's posture relaxed, and it began to explore his hand. (Y/N)'s smile widened. He understood snakes well, having studied them extensively to convince his previous parents to let him have one. The snake, despite having smaller and less developed brains than humans', knew that a predator would have eaten them already, so the garter noodle realized that (Y/N) was not a threat.
Standing up with the snake still in his hand, (Y/N) decided to show it to Shizune, the only guardian who cared about him. He walked quickly, but not too fast, calling out her name happily until he saw her.
"Shizune! Look what I found!" (Y/N) said as he practically shoved the small snake in her face, causing her to back away in surprise.
"(Y/N), you shouldn't pick up random wild snakes. They could bite you or be venomous," Shizune scolded gently. (Y/N) hugged the snake closer before answering.
"But I know this one isn't venomous. It's a garter snake," he explained proudly. Shizune looked at him, surprised by the knowledge that this young toddler had.
"How do you know that?" She asked which caused (Y/N) to shrug.
"I read about them in a book. I've been learning how to identify them," he lied. He had kept his past life's knowledge hidden to start fresh and avoid being targeted by hostile ninjas. And with Tsunade being a terrible mother, he would never dare to say anything like that to her. He was sure that it would trigger her and cause the plot to become unpredictable. Overall, it was not worth the risk.
A loud yell interrupted their conversation. Both turned to see Tsunade losing at gambling again. (Y/N) sighed tiredly, recognizing the voice.
"Is that the last of our money?" he asked Shizune, who nodded with an equally tired expression.
"Yes, it is," she replied, her voice filled with resignation. Together, they walked toward the building, the warm sun and serene surroundings a stark contrast to the turmoil in (Y/N)'s young heart.
