Two years had passed since that day.
(Y/N)'s mind existed in a realm between sleep and consciousness. His body felt numb and heavy, as if his limbs were bound by invisible chains. He was neither awake nor truly asleep, but drifting somewhere in between. Thoughts sluggishly bubbled up in his mind, clouded with confusion.
'What happened? Where am I?' His memory felt fragmented, pieces scattering like leaves in the wind.
(Y/N) struggled to recall the last thing that had occurred, the sensation of fear still lingering in his chest like a distant echo. He felt a dull throbbing in his head as he tried to focus.
'Orochimaru,' his thoughts whispered. The name made his blood run cold. He remembered those serpentine eyes, that cold grin, and his body failing him in that forest. He had fallen unconscious, helpless in the face of one of the most dangerous men to ever exist.
'Was I saved? Did Tsunade find me?' A part of him wondered. However, he felt that it was not the case. He tried to open his eyes, but his eyelids felt like lead. His body refused to obey, too weak, too tired despite not haven moved in who knew how long. He wanted to scream, to thrash, to do anything, but all he could do was to sink further into the darkness that engulfed him.
It was terrible.
His mind also refused to cooperate with him until it suddenly changed. (Y/N) finally became aware of something. An unsettling feeling creeping into his bones. He was being watched. His heart raced. Instinctively, he fought to open his eyes, to see who or what was observing him. His muscles ached as he tried to make them move. He tried again and again, pushing through the fog of exhaustion and weakness until, slowly, he managed to crack his eyes open.
His vision was blurred, distorted, as though he were looking through a veil of water. His surroundings were hazy, shapes and shadows swirling around him. He blinked several times, his heart thudding in his chest. He felt suspended, weightless, floating in some kind of thick liquid. His body twitched as the realization hit him.
He was inside some kind of pod, submerged in something.
Panic gripped him. His breathing quickened, like there was not enough air entering his lungs even with the device strapped to his face. The sound of beeping echoed in the background, growing louder with each thud of his heart. He strained his vision, scanning the room. And then, he saw him.
Orochimaru, the traitor of the Sannin.
The man sat at a desk nearby, scribbling notes on a pad of paper, his black hair casting shadows over his terribly pale face. (Y/N)'s pulse quickened, the beeping growing even more frantic as fear coursed through his veins.
What had happened to him?
Why was he in there?
