Was his body supposed to bend like this?

Had the flexibility training gone too far?

(Y/N) stared at his arm, contorted in a way that defied logic. His hand could fully touch his wrist, his legs could go behind his head, and he swore that his arm could bend three times over...

What was happening to him?

The question echoed in his mind as he sat on the bed, attempting to make sense of his unnaturally flexible body. He was in the world of Naruto, after all, a place where things beyond human limits were commonplace; like eyes that saw through walls and jutsus that defied physics. But this, somehow felt... different.

Wait. Couldn't Orochimaru move like a snake? Couldn't he stretch and twist in ways that normal humans could not? And was (Y/N) not...

Starting to do the same?

His stomach twisted in dread as more unsettling thoughts piled on top of each other. Didn't (Y/N) picked him as an option for his father? Right after he had died and right before the mysterious voices had reincarnated him in one of his favorite anime?

They had let him decide who could be his parents.

He had picked Tsunade, which had been a terrible mistake. But, had he not also picked Jiraiya and Orochimaru at the same time? He had thought that maybe he had hit the Jiraiya option earlier than the other, since his physical appearance was a mix of Tsunade and his. But had Orochimaru's option registered in?

Had he slipped in there after all?

A horrifying possibility rose to the surface of his mind: Was everything happening to him his fault? If he had picked normal parents, would he still be in this predicament? If he had only chosen Jiraiya as his father, would he still be free? Able to breath fresh air and to feel the gentle breeze? (Y/N), who had been reading a book about the history of shinobis, was now gazing blankly at the grey wall in front of him while his thoughts clashed with one another. Orochimaru was lounging on the bed right beside him, also reading a book. Every now and then, the Sannin's eyes flickered toward him, his snake-like gaze noting every twitch of discomfort that crossed (Y/N)'s face.

"Hm? Is the book not to your liking?" The snake's voice slithered into the silence, smooth and eerie. The boy jumped, his mind snapping back to reality. He looked over to the man who had unfortunately become his captor, tormentor, and caretaker, all in one.

"I... uh, no," (Y/N) stammered. He had not even realized that the book had fallen from his hands. Hesitation gripped him as he wondered if it was wise to speak, but something inside urged him to get answers.

"Can I... ask you some questions?" His voice wavered, uncertainty creeping into his tone. After all, he was about to question a man known for mass murder, torturing and more. Orochimaru did not look up from his book, but a small smile tugged at the corners of his lips.

"Of course, but whether I'll answer or not is another matter," he purred. (Y/N)'s heart raced. Was he making a mistake? Should he have just kept his mouth shut? His eyes darted nervously around the room, but there was no turning back now. He swallowed hard, then forced the words out.

"Why... why was I in that pod for two years?" Orochimaru closed the book in his hands, setting it down with deliberate care. His sigh filled the air, heavy and long, making (Y/N)'s anxiety spike. The Sannin turned to him with an almost pitying smile, though the younger one did not miss the predatory glint in his golden eyes.

"I put you in an artificial coma enhance your potential. You will now be able to do things that you could have never done in your life. You are also more resilient to diseases," the snake explained, his voice slow and deliberate. (Y/N) blinked, his mind grappling with at the implications.

"You mean... like this?" He hesitated, then lifted his arm, bending it in a way no human arm should bend. Orochimaru's smile widened, revealing a hint of something darker, more sinister.

"Precisely." The child's throat went dry. He looked down at his hands, at his too-flexible body, at everything that had changed since the day he had woken up in the Sannnin's care.

"What... did you do to me?" The black-haired one chuckled, a soft, almost fond sound that sent a shiver down (Y/N)'s spine. Before he could react, the Sannin's cold hand gripped his chin, tilting his face toward his. Yellow eyes gleamed with satisfaction as he drew closer, his voice dropping to a low whisper.

"If I were to list every experiment I've done on you, (Y/N), we'd be here for days. But let's stick to the essentials," he said, his tone almost affectionate. He let go of the boy's chin, patting his head as though he were some sort of pet. The child stiffened, his pulse quickening.

"I've made you better, stronger. Your sight is sharper than an Uchiha's, your sense of smell rivals that of an Inuzuka, and your flexibility..." Orochimaru paused before he leaned closer, his breath cold against (Y/N)'s ear.

"...Is like mine." His entire body froze at those words. His breath hitched as his mind struggled to process what the snake had just revealed.

"Wa—it! Do—esn't it mean that I..." The boy started to stutter out before he was interrupted.

"Have my DNA? Yes, (Y/N). You are, essentially, my child. My son." His chest tightened with terror, the full weight of Orochimaru's words crashing down on him.

He had been right.

This whole thing was his fault.

Stuck with a psychotic murderer? His fault.

Unable to see the sun for years? His fault.

Trapped in a grey cage? His fault.

His legs shook, barely able to hold him up. He wanted to run, but there was nowhere to go.

"And as your parent, it is my responsibility to take care of you. And in return, my dear child, you must obey my every word." Orochimaru continued, his voice soft but commanding. That child stared at him, eyes wide, the implications of the Sannin's claim echoing in his mind.
