(Y/N) was running away.

Or more precisely, was trying to escape the kunais that were being thrown at him.

Orochimaru had called this stamina and agility training. Luckily for the boy, the snake was not as crazy as he had feared and was using blunt kunais. He thanked whoever was listening for this small mercy. And so, the child dashed, his mind racing to keep up with his body's frantic movements as he dodged the barrage of kunai knives the snake hurled at him. Each kunai whistled past with only inches to spare, slicing through the air in a terrifyingly close call. (Y/N) could feel sweat trickling down his brow and neck, his clothes sticking to him uncomfortably as he twisted and jumped. His breath was coming fast and uneven, his legs already burning from the relentless pace.

"Outch!" He yelped out in pain when one of them hit him because even if the weapons were blunt, with the force they were thrown, it still hurt a lot.

"Stay focused. You never know when an enemy may strike." Orochimaru's voice cut through the chaos, carrying a mocking edge. The white-haired child winced, narrowly avoiding another kunai aimed right at his shoulder. He managed a quick nod in reply, panting heavily. He could feel his stamina slipping, his legs growing heavier with each passing second. His body screamed for a break, but the adrenaline coursing through his veins dulled the ache, pushing him to keep going. The Sannin's gaze tracked (Y/N)'s every movement, his lips curling into a pleased smile.

"Much better, but I think it's time to pick up the pace." he called, his voice a blend of pride and eerie amusement. The younger one's eyes widened, terror flashing across his face.

"There's really no need!" he gasped, his plea falling on deaf ears as the kunai began coming faster, ten or twenty at once, each one pushing him to his limit. They were coming in waves, seemingly from every direction, forcing him to spin and leap away. His body moved almost on instinct, barely keeping up, but the exhaustion was mounting. His muscles strained with each desperate move. His arms were trembling, and his legs were growing heavy with each evasion. Soon, his stamina gave out. (Y/N) felt his body slowing, his lungs struggling for air as he tripped over his own feet and hit the ground hard. He could barely get enough oxygen. Orochimaru approached him while putting away his weapons.

"Don't breathe with your mouth. Only through your nose." (Y/N) followed his instructions and closed his mouth. He focused on his nose as he breathed in and out. The dizziness reduced, though exhaustion still weighed him down.

"Remember the stretching routine I taught you?" The snake continued. The child who was still struggling to breathe, nodded.

"Good, do it now. When you are done, we'll spar." This shocked the boy like an ice bath being poured onto him. His head snapped up, and he choked on his own spit.

"R—ight after?" He voiced out in disbelief.

"Yes. An enemy won't wait for you to be rested," Orochimaru said, amused by his shock. With a resigned sigh, (Y/N) pushed himself to begin the stretches, holding each pose for thirty seconds as he tried to loosen his sore muscles. He did his best to ignore the soreness that throbbed with his every movement, but it was not quite possible with the current pain he was feeling. Despite the aches, he could feel the tension slowly leaving. His body had relaxed enough for him to get up, though with considerable effort.

"Done?" He asked, studying the boy he called his son with an unreadable expression. To say that (Y/N) was scared would be an understatement. He was definitely trembling, and the main reason was not because of how tired his body was.

"Y—yes..." He replied, his voice betraying his nervousness. Before he could react, Orochimaru vanished, only for (Y/N) to feel a searing pain in his shoulder. The kick had come out of nowhere, sending him stumbling back as pain shot through him.

"Lesson number one. Always protect the vital parts of your body. If I had aimed for your chest, you would be struggling to breathe right now," Orochimaru spoke with a calm and authoritative voice. As if on cue, he aimed a quick jab toward his chest. (Y/N) managed to block just in time, though the force made his arm throb. A bruise was surely forming beneath his sleeve. The snake nodded approvingly.

"Lesson number two. Always exhale when preparing to hit or about to be hit. This helps lessen the impact and keeps you ready to fight," he continued. Without further warning, he launched into another series of attacks. The boy tried to follow the advice, exhaling sharply each time he was struck, but the pain still shot through him with each blow. Each strike from Orochimaru had come with relentless precision, leaving (Y/N) with barely any time to recover before the next attack. He was both awed and terrified. He could feel himself growing clumsier with every second. His muscles were going numb and unresponsive as his body gave in to the fatigue.

"And for the final lesson. Never stand still, waiting for your enemy to make the first move," Orochimaru said, his voice low but intense. With a brutal kick, the boy was sent flying backward. He hit the ground hard. He could feel how every bone in his body were aching.

"Eh, this was more of a one-sided beatdown than a spar," he muttered, his voice laced with exhaustion. He had accepted his fate and laid still on the ground, trying to relieve some of the horrible pain he was feeling. Orochimaru's laughter echoed around them. That unsettling giggle made (Y/N)'s skin crawl.

"This was your first taste of fighting, (Y/N). It was bound to be difficult and painful. Now... can you get up?" The child tried to lift himself, arms shaking from the strain, but his body refused. With a determined exhale, he counted to three and tried again, managing to stand on wobbly legs. His vision blurred slightly while his head felt light. Noticing (Y/N)'s instability, Orochimaru approached and, without a word, lifted the boy into his arms.

"No, don't! I'm all sweaty and disgusting!" He protested without thinking. In that moment, he may had forgotten who he had been talking to...

"I've worked with much more disgusting fluids then that. I'll be fine," he chuckled. His words made (Y/N) pause, his face turning red as he fought back laughter.

'Don't laugh! Don't laugh!' He yelled out in his mind. However, what the older one had said just sounded so suspicious that it was hard to keep a straight face. Unfortunately, his reaction had been noticed by the older one whose expression had turned curious.

"You're sure you're alright?" he asked, sounding faintly puzzled. (Y/N) managed to calm down before he nodded.

"Yes, I'm fine." Orochimaru seemed skeptical but shrugged it off, and together they headed back to their shared room. (Y/N) needed to recover, and while doing that, he would try to process everything he had just endured...

Well, it would wait after taking a cold shower.
