until it all changed.
until she changed it.

"IM WAITING FOR HER" art argued, he sat on a small blue couch somewhere in the party, him and patrick had stuck around an hour after cassie left for pictures, patrick had groaned for half of that hour that 'she wasn't coming back' and 'she's too hot too come speak to us again'.
"art. she's not fucking coming back can we just go? im tired." he groaned, slouching on his chair and rubbing his eyes. art rolled his eyes at him, finishing scooping yogurt packets into a glass dish, something to pass the time.
"oh yeah? what if she does come back and she comes with tashi, huh?" art leaned forward clasping his lips together as she stared at patrick.
"well-" as patrick went to speak, he saw the two girls coming down a seat of stairs, saying bye to someone as they laughed and held onto each others arms.
the boys sat up, adjusting themselves as they both scrambled to greet the girls fist.
"he-" "hi."
"hello you two" cassie smiled, making her way over to them, tashi raised a brow at the two, recognising patrick as he had caught up with her before they met cassie, it was brief, but patrick still managed to come off as too eager.
"surprised you're still here." she smiled, her eyes somehow, no matter how much she tried to speak to the two boys, drifting back to art.
"oh well it's such a great party." art said sarcastically widening his eyes as he said so to emphasise the sarcasm in his voice, patrick slapped him on the arm and his eyes spoke 'don't be rude'.
"well thank you" tashi smiled, earning one back from the two boys, "don't you guys have a final or something? a shouldn't you be umm" cassie shrugged, "preparing?" tashi finished off the sentence.
"we're just juniors" "don't know how it's gonna go" the boys scrambled their words.
"well, i'm happy you're still here" cassie smiled, art nodding and tilting his head as he stared at her, patrick, obviously, was paying no attention to either of them, he gazed at tashi.
"i actually wanted to ask you about that point earlier tash-" "hey do you smoke?" patrick interrupted art and asked the two, "cigarettes? no." tashi answered for herself and cassie, "do you?" she asked, patrick proudly smiled and nodded, "healthy." cassie spat, if the anti smoking propaganda on the packets were a person, they'd sure as hell be cassie, the woman preached healthy lungs.
"wanna go down to the beach?" patrick asked, now his gaze had been fixated on cassie, as if he was taking turns at undressing the two with his eyes, cassie thought it was weird, seeing as they've not caught up yet from middle school and he's already thinking of making a move on her.
the two girls looked at eachother and shrugged, "sure."
。・:*˚:✧。
"wow, so you really don't have your bright pink headband anymore?" patrick joked, laughing quietly, "god i know, i've lost my trademark" cassie smiled, in elementary, every day cassie would wear a hot pink headband, why?
well why not
the four made their way down to the beach, there were four beach chairs but the girls decided to sit on rocks as the boys occupied the chairs.
"i have to ask you about the stanford thing. what's the angle?" patrick asked, cassie had zoned out by this point, she replied somewhat lazily, "huh?"
"well why do you want to smash a bunch of girls who were only the best in their high school? you're talented, driven, you can go pro." patrick stole arts famous words about the girl, art laughed, swirling his tongue in his mouth as he shook his head and leaned back in his chair, patrick was an animal, now he's acting like he wasn't saying stuff about her earlier?
"well funny enough patrick, there are classes in college, it's not just about tennis for me." art smiled at her response, this whole time he'd been smiling at her.
"well that's a lie, she wants to be the best," tashi mocked, cassie slapped her on the arm,
"i think you could" art sat up, not smiling this time, he was serious, "youre good, you both are" he said as he took a drag from his cigarette. cassie and him sat for a minute, staring at eachother, tashi took notice of this and sighed, "well, we should go, before my dad comes looking for us," the two girls picked up their shoes and shook the sand off of them, wiping their dresses down too.
"see you at school art," cassie smiled.
"wait," patrick started, "are you two on facebook?" "what?" tashi laughed.
"he's asking for your numbers," art sighed, "and so am i" the two boys smirked at the girls sweetly,
"you want our numbers?" tashi smiled, "very much so" art replied. "well we're not home wreckers" cassie smirked, crossing her arms infront of her.
"we don't live together," "it's an open relationship" patrick joked, smiling at cassie.
"also, patrick has a girlfriend" art smiled, "hey, i do not." patrick shot art a deadly glare.
"hang out with us later, they put you both up at the hotel up in flushing right?" patrick took another draw of his cigarette.
"we're in room 206" patrick smiled, "want us to come tuck you in?" cassie joked, jutting her bottom lip out as she spoke.
"no? we can just keep talking, about tennis" patrick smirked.
"goodnight boys," cassie smiled as she went to leave, dragging tashi with her, "night cassie." art spoke quietly, "we have beer!" patrick yelled as they left, the girls laughed at his response and left to go to their hotel.
