CASSIE GRABBED A CAPRI SUN from the assorted drinks table, she wasn't the biggest drinker. her and tashi were currently attending their 'victory' party, even though it was advertised as 'duncan-whittman' and there were photos of the two everywhere, she knew it was really just for tashi. I mean, the girl did win, but cassie has put in just as much effort.
speaking of effort, damn did she put it in tonight. she had a flowy green dress on, somewhat similar to tashis, it was beautiful. her hair was gracefully half up half down with a dainty white flower embedded clip.
as cassie stood at the side he brother daniel came up to her, "alright?" he sighed, a beer in his hand, "yeah, where's dad?" she furrowed her brows as she hadn't seen him yet. daniel sighed and went quiet momentarily, "he's fucking left hasn't he." she spat, letting out a dry laugh. "good to know how proud he is." cassie sighed, "he just wants you to do well." her brother reassured.
"cass!" tashi yelled, cassie groaned quietly and spoke a "fuck my life " under her breath as she turned her head around, she was quite content standing at the side lines of the party, the occasional 'good game' from people she had never seen nor met walking past her. "come dance!" she yelped, as she swirled around the dance floor with some of their mutual friends, cassie shook her head, "no thank you!" she smiled at daniel, "i'll see you later"
it's not that cassie didn't like tashi, she did. she was a lovely person to be around. but you can't just 'talk' with tashi duncan, no. it was tennis. tennis tennis tennis
art stood admiring a large poster of tashi and cassie, the two were back to back, gazing up at god knows what as they stood infront of a pale blue background with bold letters above them speaking: 'adidas celebrates the winners of tommorow.' "hot, huh?" patrick smirked, nudging art playfully in the arm and he let out an exasperated sigh "again, talented, driven, she knows what she's doing." art tilted his head at patrick, taking a sip of his beer. patrick raised his hands, surrendering, "sorry, she's all yours, but, i still think they're hot." Patrick spoke.
"yeah me too." a voice from behind the boys agreed, they turned around to see none other than cassie.
the boys stood still, eyes wide as they gawked at the girl,
"patrick zweig," "art donaldson," as the two boys introduced themselves the overlapped, cassie let out a small chuckle as the boys scrambled their words.
"yeah i know who you two are," she smiled, leaning on the small decorative pink table that stood in front of them, "fire and ice right?" this was their 'duo' name, cassie failed to admit her and tashi may have slightly made fun of them for this, cassie said they were more like chandler and joey, tashi disagreed.
"in the flesh" patrick cockily replied. cassie smiled at patrick, they had been best friends in elementary, but transitioning into middle school, they obviously lost touch, she had still recognised him though, "hi pat." she smiled, "hi cass."
"who's this?" she motioned to the blonde in a pink button down beside patrick, "art Donaldson," he smiled at her "you were fucking incredible today." art rambled "thank you" she smiled, "no really, it wasn't even like tennis it was a completely different game." he smiled, fiddling with his beer bottle in his hand. "i hate to sound cocky, but i don't know how you didn't beat tashi. i feel bad for you."
"well one, thank you, but don't, i'm a better loser than she is" the girl joked,
patrick laughed somewhat forcefully, cassie widened her eyes "i'll be fine" she smiled at art.
"you go to stanford right?" cassie asked, "uh yeah, how'd you know that?" art laughed, at this interaction patrick glared daggers at art, as if he was slapping him with his eyes, and cassie, as she's not blind took notice of this and stiffled out a laugh, "i've just accepted my scholarship and they mentioned you."
art smiled sweetly at the girl as he went to reply but he was quickly cut off, "you're not going pro?" patrick interrupted, seeming aggravated, "no, not yet, i'm enjoying things as they are just now." the girl replied, shooting patrick a thin lipped smile. "why'd you waste your time playing college tennis?" cassie didn't answer, thankfully, she was taken away by tashis dad, "cassie sweetie? they want you in some photos with tash, i'm gonna have to steal you." he smiled at the three.
"well, nice seeing you both."
"yeah you too," the boys said in unison, still completely staring at her, bewildered. "bye" she said sweetly.
"holy fucking shittt" art groaned, slapping patrick in the arm, "did you see that? the smiling the-" art bit his fist dramatically
"christ and i'm the one fan girling?" patrick laughed.
