CASSIE HAD JUST gotten back from matthews parents house, she was dropping off dahlia as they had asked to see her for the day, and obviously cassie let them. matthews parents didn't like cassie, she didn't know why. she always tried her best to be polite, always told his mother she looked lovely and that their house was lovely.

they still didn't like her though. when her, dahlia and matt were all in florida, his parents urged them to come for dinner every friday night, matthew had agreed.

but every time they went, cassie found herself sat in their bathroom, sobbing her eyes out. "matthew, she's not the prettiest is she?" "why are you with her? she seems like a sloppy mother," "why don't you just go back to alisha?" and even more, she couldn't keep track of all the times she's felt worthless, not just by his parents, by him, anything to do with him.

ever since matthew, cassie stopped talking as much, she was just the trophy wife, something nice to look at sometimes. she started dressing better, in clothes she hated, clothes that weren't her. she wasn't cassie anymore. she even got that taken from her. she couldn't be cassie whittman, it was cassie warren.

cassie, once a girl that didn't care much for her looks, she would wear adidas trainers she had since she was 16 that still fit her, now wore heels, dresses, expensive jewellery. she even hated herself for that, she made herself think she was ungrateful, she isn't deserve any of it.

so now, cassie couldn't count the countless nights she would lock herself in the bathroom, staring at herself, trying to figure what matthew thought was wrong with her, it was an obsession at this point.

cassie unlocked the door to her and matthews apartment, furrowing her brows as the whole house was dark, the one light coming from their bedroom. she didn't want to yell after matthew, god forbid she woke him when he was sleeping as that was, 'his only time of peace.'

cassie took her white jacket off, hanging it up by the coat hangers by the door and taking her heels off, placing them in the cubby underneath it.
