until it all changed.
until she changed it.

CASSIE SAT ON THE EDGE of arts wooden framed bed, with the blonde in front of her, yelling.
"cassie, i didn't mean too!" art yelled, pacing back and forth in-front of the girl, about a stride each way.
art had kissed tashi.
about 2 years ago, cassie had found out from patrick that tashi was trying to coach art, behind cassies back.
and for the past two years it had became more evident, until a few days ago art caved, he rold cassie what had been going on, and he outed himself that he had kissed her.
which he now realised he could've kept from her, but he couldn't bring himself too.
"oh, so you accidentally trained with her for two years and accidentally fell onto her lips, art?" cassie spoke sternly.
art stopped his pacing at this. staring at the girl blankly.
art had lied, yet again. that tashi and his coaching seessions had only started around, 3 months ago, he figured that would sound fine, believable.
"2 year- what?" art spoke, his eyes wide, face flushed. he knew cassie knew, he didnt know how but he knew he was fucked.
cassie smirked, not a good smirk, the type of smirk you give someone when youre about to yell, the type where you take a breath before speaking or swirl your tongue around angrily in your mouth.
cassie stood up, "patrick told me, god art- what the fuck is wrong with you?"cassie spoke, her voice quaking.
art stuttered his words, he wanted to yell at her, question her for talking to patrick. but he knew he wasnt in the place to right now, he didnt have the right.
"art, of all people, tashi? and the fact you fucking lied-"
art looked as if he was about to drop to his knees, begging for forgiveness, "cassie please-"
art tried to walk toward her, he was going to rub her shoulder to calm her down, cassie placed her palm on his chest, making sure he kept his distance from her, which was the equivalent of her slapping him, arts face dropped, looking like a puppy that had just been kicked.
"cassie, trust me, i didnt fucking—"
"i cant trust you anymore art."
"𝘑𝘜𝘚𝘛𝘉𝘌𝘛𝘞𝘌𝘌𝘕𝘜𝘚," ...
"dont." cassie begun, her eyes glazed. "everything i have, she fucking takes art. anything i have she has it better, now, the one thing i have thats mine, and i actually care about." cassie had to close her eyes momentarily to stop herself from fully losing her shit at the blonde.
"and now she has you?" cassie spoke, the hurt in her voice evident as she ran a hand over her slightly tanned face.
"she doesn't fucking have me." art spoke, his voice as stern as his eyes.
"bullshit. art, im not doing this, not when ive waited for you for years-"
art interrupted her, "years? ive been fucking waiting since your match with tashi. i had to sit there and watch you and Patrick, all the while wishing it was me, you think id throw you away for fucking tashi?" art spoke, his voice was louder now.
cassie shook her head, if she was a cartoon, her bottom lip would be quivering, big cartoon eyes glistening with the threat of tears.
"you already have art." cassie spoke.
"no- cass." art spoke, he really did look like a puppy now, his big blue eyes gazing at her.
cassie shook her head, grabbing her hoodie that sat on arts chair.
the scene playing out before her mirroring one which she acted in with patrick a few years ago, except this time she was patrick. art was her, and tashi was art.
"cassie. stop." art spoke, softly but loud. cassie grabbed a few of her items that sat scattered across arts bedroom; her bracelet, her shirt.
art just watched in defeat, still stood at the bed, a sly tear leaving his eye.
art didn't want to lie to cassie. but it was that or he knew he would hurt her, it was inevitable in his head that she would find out, but he hoped that she wouldn't take it like this. but it was cassie. of course she would.
art just got sucked into tennis too much. he noticed cassie becoming more involved and more committed. so, that night when tashi called him after watching him at the atlanta open, when she offered to make him great.
he couldn't fight saying yes.
cassie was crying now as she stood infront of art, his teary blue eyes meeting hers.
"bye, art." cassie croaked, walking past art, his gaze fixed at the door.
