"I need the history section" she says as she pulls the book from her backpack opening it back up to the page where it all began or all went wrong. "These symbols mean the oldest vampire, Silas" she points to some more symbols "but these, I have no idea, if I can find a history book about symbols then it might tell us where Silas is" Asmodeus laughs at Daeva's words "something wrong?" I ask as his face straightens "those symbols won't tell you were he is" he smirks "you know what they mean?" I question and he nods "so... what do they mean?" Daeva persists and he laughs again "why would I tell you, your trying to get rid of me remember" he mocks the way I speak and I want to strangle him.
"Your such a dick" Daeva snaps "thank you" he says sarcastically as he does a little bow.
"We will find a library, then we will find somewhere to rest for the night and eat" my belly grumbles at the thought, I'm so hungry. I look over to the coffee counter seeing what they have to offer, mmm cakes. "Urm,did we bring any money?" I look at Daeva, we don't use money at the school, it is technically forbidden so the students don't stay up late and gamble. "Here" Asmodeus hands me some notes and I look at him confused, where did he get money from? "I stole it" he smiles looking proud of himself and I refuse to take the money "wait can't you just magic it or something after all you are a demon, you can do anything" Daeva points out and he nods "where's the fun in that" he smirks as he stands up from his seat "warm chocolate fudge cake right?" he crouches down to me whispering in my ear before heading to the counter. I throw my head in my hands, I don't know how much more I can take of this. "On the plus side he's nice to look at" Daeva nudges me smiling, I guess she's right but "I would rather gauge my own eyes out" I laugh as Asmodeus returns bringing chocolate fudge cake for me and strawberry sponge cake for Daeva "I love eye gauging who's eyes are we gauging?" I ignore him but Daeva doesn't, giving him the reaction he wants "yours" she teases, he clutches at his chest as if his heart was broken "ouch, even after I brought you your favourite cake?" he pretends to sob but I refuse to rise up to his childishness as I take a spoonful of cake and put it in my mouth, allowing it to melt into sweet gooey goodness.
Before we leave I head back to the counter and look over it at a short older lady who looks stiff as she moves. "Excuse me, do you know if there is a library near by" I catch her attention straight away and she hobbles towards me using the counter for support "you come to New York for a library?" she chuckles "school trip, homework assignment" I respond quickly "very well" she sighs "come out the door and turn left, walk down four blocks and turn right, walk until you see the fountain and turn left again, it's just down that road" she gives me a weak smile "thank you" I smile back before leaving. I really hope this isn't a long walk, my feet hurt. We walk down four blocks and turn right walking until we see the fountain. Wow. It is so beautiful with three cherub babies at it's centre, the babies all have blow horns and the water pours out in to the pool at the bottom. "It's just down here" I point to the left as we begin to walk the final stretch to the library.
"Since when were libraries so... " Daeva says as we stare up at the tall majestic building in front of us "stylish" I say finishing her sentence before we start to climb the stairs. Please have answers I pray as we reach the heavy glass doors, I push them open and we head inside. Daeva marches towards the large round reception desk that sits four women, they all look like models, are we in the right place? "Excuse me I'm looking for the history section" Deava speaks to the tall dark beautiful lady behind a small section of this large desk "anything in particular" the lady speaks with a soft voice "symbols" Daeva responds "fourth floor, row twenty seven " she says with a smile on her face, we thank her as Daeva darts for the elevator and I run to catch up with her.
Fourth floor, row twenty seven "what exactly are we looking for?" I ask as I scan the books "anything with these symbols or even just the oldest book on symbols" she replies "why don't you ask her... oh no, nevermind" Asmodeus disappears as he finishes his sentence, his weird behaviour doesn't surprise me anymore and I look down the aisle where he pointed at an older lady stacking books. "Excuse me" I wave my hand as I walk towards her, trying to get her attention as she adjusts the glasses on her face "I wonder if you can help me, I'm looking for the oldest book you have on symbols" she looks me up and down, placing her hands on her hips "it's been checked out for quite some time" she says eyes still examining me "do you know who by?" I ask as I begin to twiddle my thumbs, this woman makes me feel uncomfortable but I can't explain why "by me" she says as she returns to her book stacking "I don't mean to be rude but are you done with it, we only need it for a moment and... it's very important" my nerves grow and my stomach tightens as once again her attention is on me "I know what you are" she says calmly "me? I'm not... I'm just...homework" is all I manage to stutter "homework" she laughs "now tell me why you really want that book" she says as her face grows stern "I have some kind of riddle I need to figure out how to fix what I did" I sigh "you know you have great power child, just undo it" her voice softens as she speaks, almost like she feels sorry for me. "I have no power and he won't leave" her face grows worried "he?" she questions "oh I know that look, I remember that look, Asmodeus" my eyes widened in disbelief "your looking for Silas aren't you?" I am dumbfounded, all I can do is nod as she comes closer to me placing her hands on my arms " Asylum nightclub,he owns it and lives above it, tell him Sherri sent you and promise me one thing" her eyes look deep into mine "don't fall in love with Asmodeus" I laugh at her words, how does she "I must get back to it, if you need me you know where to find me" is all she says as she walks away with her book cart. I have more questions than I have answers but atleast we got what we came for, kind of.
