"You need to leave!" a man comes marching from the woodland, he is short but muscular and has a little hair, "ah Jasper be a good doggy and fetch your father for me" Silas says sharply standing upright to show off his height "leave" the man called Jasper says as fury coats his blue eyes "who's going to make me short stuff, you?" Silas laughs as he pushes his way past the man "I'm pretty sure I remember the way" Silas says as he gestures for me and Daeva to follow. I hesitantly follow him as he pushes aside the thick tree branches. We walk for a while through the dense woodland and up a steep part of a mountain. It was peaceful out here, the birds in the sky seemed happy as they chirp away. "Stay by me" Silas says as he takes a hold of my arm, pushing through another thick branch revealing the true life of the mountain. Log cabins in rows almost like a holiday park, with children laughing and fighting. A few women sit on the wooden stairs of their cabins watching the children and in the distance was a large group of men, distracted by something, circled around it, cheering and booing. I get the feeling we are not wanted here as we begin to walk through, the children stop playing and the women usher them back inside the cabins quickly.
"Lucian, I've come to collect that favour, we need to talk" Silas says loudly, gaining the attention of the men who all turned to watch us, the circle they formed had broken revealing two topless men that were fighting "Lucian" Silas repeats bringing the fight to a stop. A tall slim man begins to walk towards us, he is topless as he had been fighting, his eyes a bright piercing blue with dusty blonde shoulder length hair "Silas my friend, what brings you to my mountain?" he smiles a welcoming smile "we need to talk" Silas responds as Lucian looks at Daeva and then me "you brought company" he beams as he approaches me, taking my hand in his and kissing it, I smile awkwardly "well aren't you something" he says as his eyes examine me "Lucian" Silas warns "okay okay" he says backing away from me with his hands in the air.
"Come on inside, have some wine and we can talk" he says walking towards a cabin on the left, we follow him up the wooden stairs and into an open layout with an oak dining table and sit. "I need a virgin" Silas says as Lucian pours us all some red wine. I sip it and it tastes like vinegar, me and Daeva had snuck some wine from the heads office before but it was fruity and sweet, this is bitter and dry but I continue to sip from it to be polite. Lucian laughs before responding "we all have needs my friend but surely New York has plenty so why come all the way to me" he says "you know what I mean" Silas says growing irritated "you're trying again? Wow, you must care for her to put yourself through that again you barely survived last time" Lucian's voice was surprised but sympathetic as he looks at me "what does he mean?" I ask looking at Silas "nothing" he snaps back, shutting me down. Lucian looks at Silas and then at me and back again "I will need the night to think on whom, you may stay here, I have a spare cabin" he says as he stands tossing some keys to Silas "thank you" Silas says as he stands aswell. "The end cabin, on the left, nothing fancy but it has three bedrooms" he points out the window as Silas shakes his hand.
The cabin looked almost the same as Lucian's, open kitchen and dining room with a small sofa in front of an open fire. Down the hall were three bedrooms each with a small double bed and one bathroom between us. It had turned dark just after our arrival and we all head straight to our rooms. I strip from my jeans and climb into bed still wearing the jumper Silas had borrowed me last night. I close my eyes and try to let my mind go blank, with my eyes still closed I feel someone climb in beside me, I turn over thinking it was Daeva but when I open my eyes I jump startled "Asmodeus!" I scream in a hushed tone. He smiles that devilish smile "dreaming about me again" he whispers "no, you left me for dead and you want to kill Silas!" I pull the quilt over myself as I speak "I admit I was a little jealous but come on, look at me" he pouts "stay out of my head and my bed! " I say as I try to push him off the bed "come on my dear, I can give you what you want" he brings his face closer to mine "I can kiss you the way you like it, please you the way you imagine " he teases as his lips edge closer to mine. My heart begins to race, he knows everything that goes on inside my head, he's seen all of my sexual dreams and knows my desires. I might not have been kissed yet but a girl can dream or so I thought, all of my school crushes, he knows about. I even had a dream about my teacher once, does he know about that? "Yes" he whispers "I know everything" he brushes my messy hair out of my face and places his hand on my cheek. "NO!" I say as I push him away from me climbing out of bed and heading to the living area. I light a fire and sit watching the flames flicker and listening to the wood crackle as I curl up on the sofa.
"Mind if I join?" Silas causes me to jump a little as he speaks, he edges towards the sofa "I could use the company" I say as he slumps down beside me, his leg touching mine as this sofa struggles to accommodate the both of us. "He showed up again" I say still staring into the fire "in your dreams?" Silas asks and I shake my head "no, in my bed, he's always there when I don't want him to be but not when I need him to be, the only time he leaves me alone is when I'm..." I look over to Silas "with me?" he asks looking back at me and I nod "you're my peace and it's so strange" I say still looking into his eyes "why is it strange?" he questions as he pushes his hair from his face "because I don't know anything about you but the only time I can fully relax is when I'm with you" I sigh "my name is Silas O'Cleary, I like cooking, reading and nice views. I've only ever been in love once and it was an extremely long time ago, I own a popular nightclub and I was an only child, my mother practiced witchcraft and when I got injured in one of the many wars I've fought in, I almost died so she done something no one else has ever done, that created vampires. Oh and I'm five thousand two hundred and twenty three years old" he smiles a genuine smile, "five thousand two hundred and twenty three?" I question in disbelief and he nods. "Wow, thats a long time to be alone" I say sympathetically as our eyes burn in to each others. "Who said I'm alone?" he laughs "in all those years of life you've only had one love,im sure owning a nightclub has some pretty little perks but don't you want to share your life with someone, cook with someone and enjoy amazing views with someone?" I ask looking back in to the fire "maybe if the right one comes along but that happiness won't last forever expecially if that girl is human, I have to consider if it's worth it" he sighs, slouching back "I would give anything to just experience it, even for five minutes, that thrill you get at the thought of them, the butterflies, the waking up next to someone you love and dancing in the kitchen at three in the morning" I smile at the thought "you've watched to many movies" he laughs "maybe" I say still smiling from ear to ear as I rest my head on the back of the sofa.
