"Now what?" Jasper asks as I free him and Silas "now we get the fuck off this island" he throws the rope that bound him into the ground in anger "you can leave but I am getting that stone" I say causing him to grow frustrated "did you not just go through enough Beatrix, it was killing you, it is going to kill you" he tries to calm himself as he speaks, he tried to reason but I don't want to hear it. "Asmodeus is not here at the moment, but her will be back, I need to do this," I say. "I can't stand by and watch this. I WILL NOT!" he shouts."SO LEAVE!" I grow just as frustrated as him and poor Jasper just stands like a lost puppy starting at both of us watching us argue.
He does not respond. His face becomes saddened and hurt by my words, but I turn my attention back to the volcano and I close my eyes. The quicker I get this done, this will all be over. Please let this all be over. Focus. Once again, I picture the water gathering in the sky, my skin begins to tingle and the pain in my head intensifies. I picture the fire in the volcano moving and extinguishing the heat of the lava. I feel the water splash against my body and I feel the blood pour from my nose once again. The earth shakes beneath me and the wind flies around me, almost knocking me off my feet. I picture the base of the volcano rising as my head begins to spin, I picture the wind collecting the stone and blowing it towards me, and then everything goes dark.
I can hear Silas calling my name, I can feel him shaking my body, but I can not respond, I scream his name, I try to yell, and I try to tell him that I am here.
"You got your stone, now you can be rid of me," I hear Asmodeus. I walk towards a dim red light where I see him sitting in a red velvet chair. "Where am I?" I ask as I look around, a deep red velvet bed with matching red silk sheets "welcome to my world" he stands and throws himself back on the bed, his hair messy, his jeans unzipped and his shirt unbuttoned. "I'm dead?" I question as I watch him "no, not yet, Silas is really trying to bring you back to life but his blood may take a while to heal you, you're pretty far gone" he says sweeping his hair from his face "I have to get out of here" I say as I walk away from him and back into the darkness. "I'm afraid it's not that simple,"his voice all around me as I find myself back where he is, staring at him as he lay on the bed. How? I walked away. I turn and walk away again, only to end up back with Asmodeus. He laughs at me as I slump myself down in the chair where he once sat. The world of Asmodeus, it's a chair and a bed, nothing else. "Let me clean you up," he says, appearing by my side with a bowl and a flannel. This is my life or lack of it. This is my karma for everything. I sit staring into the nothingness as he wipes my face clean with a warm flannel. When I imagined the world of Asmodeus, I imagined a world, but only now do I remember anything he needs he can make appear. "It must be lonely down here" I say as I think aloud "that's why I have you" he smiles placing his hand on my cheek, his touch is warm and comforting, I do not deserve to feel warm or comforted "I killed my mom today" I whisper as a tear escapes me. "You did what you had to do, my dear. You are so strong, so brave and so beautiful." His words cause me to break down completely as it all becomes too much. I'm dead-ish, I killed my mom, my best friend was never really my best friend. I sob uncontrollably as my chest grows tight. Asmodeus pulls me into him and holds me as he attempts to comfort me by rubbing my back. "Daeva... She..." I sob into the crook of his neck "I never liked her, she has an attitude problem" he whispers and I couldn't help but laugh because he's right she did have an attitude problem. He pulls himself away from me and I immediately feel cold, causing me to shiver slightly. "You hungry?" Asmodeus asks as he stands."How long will I be down here?" I ask, wondering if dead people actually get hungry. "I can feel Silas pulling you back. His blood is working, it's only a matter of time," he says as his face grows disappointed at my urgency to leave. I pity him, as much as I have disliked him, he didn't ask for this life either, he's lonely and my company as hostile as it might have been must have been comforting to him. "How did this happen to you?How did you get trapped here? Who trapped you here? Why?" The questions roll from my tongue one after the other without a breath. "Now that my dear is a very long, very boring story so why don't we do something a little less drab and a little more Asmodeus" he flings his shirt from his body in true Asmodeus cheekiness and lays himself on the bed propped up by his elbow. I smile and climb onto the bed beside him. "You know that's never going to happen," I say, still smiling because in all of this chaos, Asmodeus is still Asmodeus. He wraps his arm around me and pulls me close to him so my head sits on his bicep and his eyes look deep into mine as he strokes my hair. "Never say never," he smirks and for a split second, I wanted his lips on mine. It's in the moment, in our eyes, in the air.
I run my fingers along his bottom lip as the tension between us rises, I couldn't help myself, I never thought I would say this, but I want him. I want Asmodeus. I run my fingers down from his lips to his chest as he watches me and then from his chest to his heavily defined abs and back again. With my hand wrapped around the back of his neck, I pull him closer. "Are you sure?" he asks before he continues and I nod "positive.
