I didn't sleep, the nausea stayed with me the whole night and only got worse when I lay down. The sun has begun to rise and I dress for the day ahead, I try to think of what the day might bring but honestly, I have no idea, today might even be the day I die, or don't die. I open my door to the smell of food and make my way down the hall, following the smell. I opened the door and slipped inside, I was so hungry my mouth began to water and I almost drool. "Morning" Silas says pulling my gaze towards him, he was cooking away happily, he looked refreshed and relaxed. Am I dreaming? "Breakfast" he slides a plate across a steel surface towards me and I try not to devour it like a starving animal. Bacon, sausage, eggs, tomatoes, potatoes and toast, I could kiss him right now. It doesn't take me long to finish the entire plate as Silas watches me amused. "Thank you" I smile as the door swings open "don't mind if I do" Jasper says helping himself to a mountain of meat causing me to laugh, I thought I was bad.
"We are about an hour from shore, I took a break to rest up" Silas says as he watches Jasper stuff his face "I should go and talk to Daeva" I stand up and leave them to it heading to Daeva's room, empty. I walk up the stairs and see her leaning over the railings "look!" she points out at the sea, dolphins. All happily swimming by it almost seemed surreal. "Hey, I urm... Need to talk to you about a few things and I need you not to be mad but I'm telling you anyway because I might never be able to tell you" I begin to talk as we watch the dolphins "my mom and the council want to free the witches trapped inside the stone of Zephyr and they need me to do it so they are creating some sort of hybrid army."I look at her but she doesn't seem surprised "yeah, I kind of spoke to Silas but he only told me because he is worried about you" that son of a bitch "what else did he tell you?" I begin to panic what if he told her about the spirit magic? "Nothing,he doesn't have to tell me anything I know he loves you" she smiles a weak smile, I need to tell her. "Daeva I'm sorry, I'm sorry I can't love you the way you love me" she instantly looks up at me horrified "I lied to you about the spirit magic because I didn't want you to feel uncomfortable around me, I wanted you to tell me in your own time but I don't think we have time because when we get to that island..." I begin to freak out and my breath quickens "you're not going to die!" she snaps with tears in her eyes "but if I do I just want you to know that I love you and I am so fucking proud of you" I also begin to tear up as we embrace eachother "you're not going anywhere" she says.
"Guys come look" Jasper calls us to the front of the boat and we both hurry thinking there was a problem. There she stood an island surrounded by sand that glistened in the sunlight causing it to look like tiny specs of gold. A volcano lies craggy against the bright blue sky becoming the main feature on the island, surrounded by a jungle that rings with different animal noises with two large mountains either side of the volcano. "Where do we begin?" I think out loud, this island looks huge and if my mother wants that stone she won't be far behind with the right knowledge, she might even already be here. "The book doesn't exactly say but I guess we are looking for some sort of special spiritual place" Daeva says as she skims through the pages of a book that now lay upon her hands.
We stepped off the boat onto a rotting, wobbly dock and walked across the sand to the border of the woodland. Jasper stops and looks at me "you're the witch, any ideas?" he asks as my face scrunches up and I shake my head "the center of the island" Silas says as we entered the woods "it looks like the volcano is at the centre of the island" Daeva points out as we continue walking "exactly" Silas states as he walks ahead of us all "what are we supposed to do, jump in it?" Daeva laughs causing Silas to shoot her a serious look, why is he being so moody? "We won't make it to the volcano before nightfall" Jasper says and he's right, although the island is smaller than most we are getting to it by walking. I will admit the walk is pleasant, the woods are thick but the sound of nature is all around and the smell of a storm lingers in the air. I can not help but wonder what's to come, I know I will die, I can feel it. The further we venture in the worse the feeling gets, I can't explain it, it's not just a gut feeling, my head hurts and the deeper in we get the stronger the headache appears to be getting, maybe it's just me being paranoid but I feel like I'm really not wanted here. The dense brush around us begins to shuffle bringing us all to a stop "what was that?" Jasper panics "a bunny, a snake, a ghost, a murderer" Daeva teases "enough!" Silas says as he wafts his hands through the bush to clear an eyeline view "there's nothing there" he reassures as he walks on, I am not convinced. The feeling of us not being welcome here continues to grow as the sky becomes black with heavy rain clouds and flashes beams of lightning into the nearby trees causing us to pick up the pace. "This way!" Silas shouts back at us as rocks begin to beat down, we practically run towards him and into the dark cave he points towards.
"All of the five star hotels booked?" Daeva jokingly asks as we stand in the opening of the cave. Silas flicks his lighter on and looks to me "care to help" he says and I stand confused for a moment. Oh my magic. I close my eyes and try to focus but an intense shooting pain strikes inside my head, almost like somebody is stabbing me in my brain causing me to groan a muffled groan and hold my head. "What's the matter?" Daeva questions with concern "I can't do it" I sigh gripping my head as I sit down, "I got it" Jasper says sinking into the darkness, werewolves, they have night vision and for that, right now I'm extremely grateful.
