"Wake up," my mother's voice calm as she shakes me awake, my eyes heavy and my head spinning. I feel dizzy and sick, my mouth unbelievably dry and all of my energy has gone. I feel an intense heat rise up my body as my heavy eyes fight to open. Fire. I try to shuffle, I try to move, but my hands are bound behind my back. We are at the top of the volcano and I have no idea how we got here. "Now let's crack on," she beams a bright happy smile. "Why are you doing this?" I ask, feeling beyond betrayed."I do what needs to be done, child, now come, " she says, freeing my hands just enough for me to use them but not enough for me to be free. "Please, mom, let me go," I beg and she laughs amused at my words, "or what?" she questions and for a brief moment I figured intimidated might work "or I will sink this whole island with all of us on it and you will never get that precious stone" I notice my words do not do as intended as I finish my poor performance. With a smile still between her lips she speaks again "Silas and Jasper are still alive, if you do not help me I will throw them in" she looks down the heart of the volcano and into the flames as a number of men walk up around us holding Jasper and Silas. I immediately look to Silas as his face pours with fresh blood. Why isn't he healing? "You see child, you can't overpower all of us and if you try it, your little lover dies first" she lowers her face towards mine as she speaks and I swing my head forward in anger, smashing my head against her nose causing her face to flood with blood. "THROW HIM!" She yells "wait wait wait, I will do whatever it is you want." I frantically speak as I watch Silas get nudged closer and closer to the edge. "Please do not hurt him," I beg as his feet begin to slip onto the loose gravel around the edge. She lifts her finger to stop the brutality I was about to witness. "The stone is at the bottom and only you are powerful enough get it, you are also the only one who can free the witches, so be a good girl" she smirks "Beatrix don't!"Silas yells across to me and I watch him get struck in the face by a silver knuckle shield. That explains why he isn't healing fast, pure silver. I look to Daeva as she watches on, I want to rip her head off, I want to scream at her, I want to kill her. How can she just stand by and watch this? "How could you?" I cry as my anger builds up inside me once again. She's the reason Asmodeus came into my life. She's the reason we are here. She's the reason for everything. I need to focus, I need to get that stone, but my mother can not have it. Focus. I need water and lots of it, good job we are by the sea. Focus. I picture the water rising high into the sky above us. Focus. I picture a downfall. My head. It's painful so painful like it's going to explode and I feel a warm liquid pour from my nose as I scream in pain once again. "YOU'RE KILLING HER!" Silas screams, causing my eyes to open and break my focus. I throw my head back, exhausted, as I feel the warm liquid drip onto my lips. Silas is struck again and again and again. "Please," I beg once again. "Do what you need to do and you're free to go, you, Silas, Jasper and even Daeva if you wish" she strokes the blood from my nose "I need my hands free, I need to feel the earth" I lie and she hesitates for a moment before completely freeing my hands "try anything and they die" she reminds me and I fall to my knees pretending to feel the earth as I look up at Silas' confused expression. "Focus!" she demands as she kicks me in my side. I place the palms of my hands against the rock formation and shuffle slightly until I am in the correct position. I pretend to close my eyes, I pretend to focus. I can not believe I am about to do this. Should I do this? Without a second thought, I open my eyes and launch myself forward against my mother's legs, pushing her until she falls over the edge and into the volcano. I watch over the edge as she screams falling in slow motion with a look on her face that I can't make out, her eyes petrified and scared, she looked like her again, she looked like my mom and now she dead because I just killed her. I try to cry for a moment, I try to mourn, but I can only mourn the mother. I wish I had not the one I actually had. I sit myself back up on my knees, still in shock from my own actions and I watch the facial expressions on her little army men change, they instantly became lost and unsure. "Leave," I say calmly to begin with, but nobody moves. "LEAVE!" I scream with all the air in my lungs and I watch them vanish down the volcano as they run as fast as their feet will carry them. I look up to Daeva, who still stood their like nothing had happened. "Bee..." she tries to speak "leave, " I demand."Please..." she continues "Daeva if you do not get out of my sight right now you will be joining my mother" I say calmly almost too calmly as my own harsh words so not faze me and Daeva slowly turns and walks away as she tries to muffle her sobs. I did not move, I don't retaliate, I did not cry, I became completely numb and if it wasn't for Jasper I would have stayed there for hours, still on my knees, still in shock. He clears his throat before he speaks "I hate to interrupt but can you untie us please" his words cause me to laugh hysterically as I try to stand because after everything he's still him, he's not scared of me and he's not judging me. Tears from laughing so hard fall from my eyes as I finally manage to stand, I wipe my face dry as I look over to Jasper and Silas but Jaspers confused expression only makes me laugh more "she's in shock" Silas says to Jasper as I continue laughing struggling to catch my breath and calm myself down.
