Being a part of the chief's chosen group while having to do the usual work at the same time wasn't as easy as Yoohyeon thought. And the fact that she still hasn't made any progress in getting to know the other groupmates was making everything harder.
She doesn't get along with them, really, but she thought it would be helpful and beneficial for each one of them to know each other at least a little better. Though it seemed that they just cared about the project and to make Minji notice them, not really in the mood for making any friends on the way.
So much was noticeable as they were all in the room Minji asked them to meet up in. The three other girls that she didn't know the names of were already there when Yoohyeon arrived, clearly talking. But as soon as Yoohyeon entered, they went silent for a bit, giving her some looks before continuing to talk amongst themselves without even greeting her.
"Well, hi to you, too" She mumbled to herself, quietly enough that it wasn't heard by anyone in the room. She took a seat and put her stuff on the table, now all of them waiting for Minji to appear with some new information that was promised. The only person's name she knew in this group was Jongho, and he mostly stayed to himself so Yoohyeon doubted him wanting new friends.
Meanwhile, it truly felt like the girls weren't interested in making friends... with her. They seemed to be fine getting to know each other. Was it because she hadn't walked up to them yet? Did she not try hard enough? Or did they just not want to?
She decided to figure that out by trying to strike up a conversation with them, so she thought about a question to ask for a moment before taking their attention. "Hey, guys, what operation do you think it will be?" She asked with a smile, trying to look relaxed.
The three of them turned silent again, looking at her for a few seconds without answering. "Nothing too difficult since we're interns. But no use theorizing about that... If one person would know, it would be you" One of them decided to finally respond, only mumbling the last part.
But Yoohyeon heard it clearly, though the statement didn't really make sense to her, so she decided to ask away again. "What do you mean? How would I know?" She certainly didn't have any superpowers, nor the connections. Yoohyeon stared at them, oblivious of their thoughts and ideas.
"Oh come on," Another girl spoke a roll of her eyes. "Just... we'll see what it is."
Yoohyeon was more confused by that reply, and she wasn't sure if she should inquire more or stay silent and figure out what they mean like that, but she didn't have to choose any of the options since the room's door opened and Minji walked inside. "You're all on time. That's what I like to see, responsibility."
She put the papers down on the table and stood right in front of everyone, making eye contact with each of them before smiling.
"I know you all are curious about the surgery and the details, and I won't let you wait any more" Minji grabbed one of her papers and pinned it down on the whiteboard with a magnet. On that it read 'Hepatectomy'. "Can anyone tell me what this is?" Everyone should be able to, but it was a good test.
Everyone raised their hands, including Yoohyeon, but from the group, the only guy was the quickest to answer, "It is a liver resection surgery, where we remove part of the liver while leaving healthy tissue intact." He said and proudly smiled in the end, while everyone else just took down their hands from the air with a disappointed look that they weren't the ones who answered.
"Thank you for answering, Jongho. Your enthusiasm is nice but please refrain from answering until I say your name next time." The chief softly scolded him, really feeling like a teacher. She grabbed some little cards with everyone's name on them and pinned them to the whiteboard as well. "Today we will be assigning who takes what role for this operation."
