It was close to the time where everyone else had to arrive, and Minji was getting more uneasy every minute. Siyeon had come a bit earlier, so she was glad she had some company now, but the fact that Yoohyeon would also join was a little... Well, she wasn't sure what exactly it was that made her react that way, but it was annoying, and she wished for it to go soon. The point of this dinner was to get comfortable and have fun, especially for Gahyun to do so. So to concentrate on her confusing feelings now would be pretty egocentric.
Because of a last-minute emergency at the hospital, Minji got home a little later than she planned. That meant that she had to rush to start cooking. So when Siyeon arrived earlier, she basically opened the door and then ran back to the kitchen without a proper greeting since several cooking timers were going off. And if something burned, things would be even worse.
The blonde woman washed her hands and peeked into the kitchen, "Do you need help with anything?" She surely wasn't a good cook, but seeing Minji in this state right now, she wanted to do anything that would make the woman feel at least a little more at ease.
Help was much needed and would be really appreciated... but although Minji also wasn't a pro chef, she did have her pride in the kitchen. "No no, everything is under control!" The chief wiped some sweat from her forehead. "You can just think about how to impress your girlfriend a little more;"
Siyeon knew better than to correct Minji and say that they weren't officially girlfriends, yet, since she already knew that. So she just shook her head with a chuckle and leaned on the frame of the door with her shoulder. "As you say, chief." She said jokingly. "Although... What the heck has gotten into you? It's only Bora and Gahyun, it's not like they're food critiques"
This was even better, wasn't it? Neither of the sisters had cared to inform Siyeon about the extra guest. "And Yoohyeon" Minji tried to say without showing that it bothered her.
Siyeon narrowed her eyes, a teasing smile appearing on her lips as she walked further into the kitchen. "Yoohyeon... Or, do you mean, Yooh?" Today she had heard the woman call her like that, and wanted to tease her about it ever since. She loved that she caught that possibility now.
Minji's cheeks turned a little pink, turning towards Siyeon and pointing at her with the knife she was holding. "Do you want food later or not?"
Siyeon cracked up, holding her hands up in the air as if to prove her innocence. "Hey, don't you worry, just having a little crush on the intern. No biggie" She said through a smug smile, knowing Minji hasn't even said that sentence out loud in her own mind, so hearing it like this would definitely make her go all defensive.
"Who said anything about a crush?" the chief defended herself even if she knew that her behaviour was actually playing into that rumour. "It's just... she was already with Gahyun and-..." Siyeon wasn't buying any of it, was she?
"You don't have to defend yourself with me, Minji. I'm not judging" Siyeon was quick to clear, walking a little closer and holding Minji's shoulder with a small smile. "Feelings aren't something you can control... Even though you're a chief and you usually do control everything, that might be out of your hands this time"
"Even if that were to be the case, it's not really appropriate, is it?" If someone caught wind of these rumours, especially the higher ups, things could get messy. Not only for her but also for Yoohyeon.
"Well... Yeah, but again, you're the chief. You don't need others telling you what's right. Plus we both know how many colleagues are actually dating in the hospital, Minji" And that was true, but maybe a chief and an intern haven't occurred, yet. Or, maybe it was pretty hidden. Either way, they couldn't ignore the fact that something was definitely going on between the two of them.
