As the days passed, Alaric found himself gradually adjusting to his new life. It had been nearly a month since his unexpected transmigration into the world of the BL otome game, and despite the constant tension surrounding the gongs and the shou protagonist, he was growing accustomed to this place.

In his previous life, Alaric had been an orphan, lonely and isolated. The memory of his death while trying to save a stray cat still haunted him(he doesn't regret saving the cat), but this second chance at life brought him a sense of happiness and purpose. He was determined to make the most of it.

As Duke Cedric's birthday approached, Alaric's excitement grew. He had commissioned a new designer to create an elegant and beautiful attire that would complement his features. The result was a stunning outfit that highlighted his striking blue eyes and fluffy pink hair, which he had grown to love.

Standing in front of the mirror, Alaric admired his reflection. His face, though slightly different, bore a resemblance to his previous one. The lovely attire made him look both elegant and endearing, with a captivating shine in his eyes that he himself didn't fully recognize. The maids in the mansion blushed and whispered among themselves, charmed by his appearance.

Taking a deep breath, Alaric picked up the blue brooch he had bought for Cedric and made his way to the carriage. The journey to Duke Cedric's mansion was filled with a mix of anticipation and nervousness. Despite his efforts to stay low-key, he couldn't deny the pull he felt towards the gongs.

Arriving at the grand mansion, Alaric was greeted by the opulent surroundings and the bustling preparations for the birthday celebration. He felt a mixture of awe and anxiety as he stepped out of the carriage, clutching the gift tightly in his hand.

The butler led him through the magnificent halls to the grand ballroom where the party was already in full swing. Nobles and distinguished guests filled the room, their conversations and laughter creating a lively atmosphere.

As he entered, Alaric felt a dozen pairs of eyes turn towards him, drawn by his captivating presence. He tried to maintain his composure, reminding himself of his goal: to give Cedric the brooch and blend into the background.

Just as he was about to approach the Duke, he felt a familiar gaze on him. Turning slightly, he saw Prince Lucian standing nearby, his sharp blue eyes locked onto Alaric with an unreadable expression. Lucian’s presence was as magnetic as ever, making Alaric’s heart race.

Before he could react, a soft voice called his name. “Alaric,” Gabriel said, appearing at his side with his usual calm demeanor. “You look stunning tonight.”

“Thank you, Gabriel,” Alaric replied, feeling a blush creep up his cheeks. The intensity in Gabriel’s eyes was unsettling, yet he couldn’t deny the warmth it brought.

“Come, let’s find Cedric,” Gabriel suggested, gently guiding Alaric through the crowd. As they made their way, Alaric couldn’t help but notice Julian, the shou protagonist, watching them from across the room with a serene smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

Finally, they reached Cedric, who was engaged in conversation with several guests. When he saw Alaric, his eyes widened slightly in surprise. “Alaric,” Cedric greeted, his usual stoic expression softening. “You look... remarkable.”

“Happy birthday, Your Grace,” Alaric said, presenting the brooch. “I hope you like this gift.”

Cedric took the brooch, examining it with a faint smile. “It’s beautiful, Alaric. Thank you.” His gaze lingered on Alaric, a hint of something deeper in his eyes.

As the evening progressed, Alaric found himself navigating the complex social web of the party, all the while trying to maintain his distance from the gongs. Yet, the moments of subtle tension and ambiguous interactions with Lucian, Gabriel, and Cedric were impossible to avoid.

Despite his efforts to lay low, Alaric couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of belonging. This world, with all its dangers and intrigue, had become his new home. And as he retired for the night, he resolved to continue forging his path, embracing the second chance he had been given.
