The next morning, Alaric woke up feeling refreshed. He took a bath and dressed himself, feeling the anticipation of the day's events. Breakfast was served in his room, and after he had eaten, he called for Fibi.
Strangely, he found himself wondering about Prince Lucian and why he hadn't seen him yet.
He decided to visit the garden, which he had admired from his window the previous evening. He approached the head butler who was managing the guests.
"Of course, sire. You can visit the garden. If you need anything else, you can just tell any servant," the butler said with a polite smile.
"Thank you. The garden is beautiful, and I wanted to see it up close," Alaric replied.
"Indeed, it is," the butler agreed.
Alaric made his way to the garden, marveling at the fountains, flowers, statues, and beautiful architecture. He followed the path, feeling at peace in the tranquil surroundings.
"Fibi, is everything all right?" Alaric asked, noticing his attendant's discomfort.
"Nothing, young master," Fibi replied, clearly embarrassed.
"Fibi, tell me," Alaric insisted gently.
"I'm having some stomach issues," Fibi admitted, looking down.
"It's okay, Fibi. You can go and rest," Alaric said reassuringly.
"But, young master—"
"No buts. Go," Alaric said firmly.
Fibi thanked him and departed. Alaric continued along the path until he reached a beautiful gazebo near a lake. Swans swam gracefully in the water, and the morning light shimmered on the pond, casting a beautiful glow on Alaric’s face.
Suddenly, a voice sounded from behind. "Beautiful."
Startled, Alaric turned and was shocked to see a handsome young man with silver hair and golden eyes. His sharp features and lean but muscular build gave him the look of a magnificent knight. He wore a simple white shirt and black slacks, with a sword at his side.
"Beautiful, isn’t it?" the man repeated, looking directly at Alaric, though he seemed to be referring to the swans.
Alaric nodded. "Yes, it is."
The man moved closer, his presence commanding attention. There was something familiar about him that Alaric couldn't quite place.
"What is the name of this beautiful kitten?" the man asked with a playful smile.
"Huh?" Alaric was taken aback.
"Your name, sire. Are you perhaps a guest at the prince's birthday?" the man clarified.
"Yes,"slightly blushing Alaric replied, giving his name. The man introduced himself as El.
There was an ambiguous tension in the air, an unspoken understanding that left Alaric feeling unsettled yet intrigued. Just as they were about to continue their conversation, Fibi returned, giving a quick glance at the man before addressing Alaric.
"Excuse me, young master, but Prince Lucian is looking for you," Fibi said.
Alaric excused himself from El and made his way to Prince Lucian's room. As he walked, he couldn't shake the image of those piercing golden eyes from his mind.
Meanwhile, El watched Alaric leave until he disappeared from sight. He chuckled softly, murmuring, "Little kitten," before leaving the gazebo.Waiting for tonight.
