The sun had begun its descent, casting a warm, golden hue over the palace. Alaric stirred from his sleep, feeling slightly groggy. Blinking a few times to clear his vision, he realized he wasn't in the beautiful indoor garden with Elias. Confusion washed over him as he recognized the familiar surroundings of Prince Lucian's room. How did he get here?

As he sat up, his mind tried to piece together the fragmented memories of the afternoon. He recalled feeling tired and falling asleep, but how did he end up here in Lucian room? His cheeks flushed with embarrassment at the thought of Lucian finding him in such a vulnerable state.

Just then, the door creaked open, and Lucian stepped in. Alaric's heart skipped a beat as he met Lucian's gaze.

"Your Highness, I mean... Lucian," Alaric stammered, feeling a mix of embarrassment and nervousness. "How... how did I end up here?"

Lucian's eyes held Alaric's for a long moment before he answered. "I came to meet Elias and found you asleep. So... I carried you here," he said, omitting the details of the earlier confrontation with Elias.

Alaric's face turned a deeper shade of red at the thought of being carried by Lucian. He averted his eyes, feeling the heat rise to his cheeks. "I... I see. Thank you," he mumbled, his voice barely above a whisper. "And... I'm sorry for any trouble."

Lucian chuckled softly, finding Alaric's embarrassment endearing. "It's no trouble at all, Alaric. I'm just glad you're alright."

Alaric quickly stood up, eager to escape the overwhelming emotions swirling within him. "I'll... I'll be going now," he said, bowing his head. "Thank you again, Lucian."

As he hurriedly made his way to the door, Lucian watched him with a mixture of amusement and affection. The sight of Alaric's flushed cheeks and hurried steps brought a smile to his lips. "Anytime, Alaric," he said softly as the door closed behind him.

Once outside, Alaric leaned against the wall, his heart racing. He took a few deep breaths to steady himself before making his way back to his own chambers.

The memory of Lucian's eyes, the warmth of his presence, lingered in his mind, leaving him feeling both flustered and comforted.

Lucian, on the other hand, remained deep in thought. He had withheld the truth from Alaric about Elias's actions and his own confrontation with the Crown Prince.

Protecting Alaric was his priority, but he knew the rivalry with Elias was far from over. With the upcoming party, tensions were sure to escalate, and Lucian needed to be prepared for whatever challenges lay ahead.

As the palace settled into the quiet of the evening, both Alaric and Lucian found themselves lost in their thoughts, each grappling with their own feelings and the uncertainties of the future.

The delicate balance of power, affection, and rivalry was shifting, and they could only hope to navigate it without losing themselves—or each other—in the process.
