Dr. Moore could sense the urgency and impatience within the both of them and cleared her throat. "So, I'll just jump right into it here." She started which made Jay and B both look up at her anxiously awaiting her next words. "Your urine test came back positive for pregnancy and negative for everything else." B's heart dropped immediately, it felt like it could have fallen right out of her body. The way her heart skipped a beat made a gasp escape her lips. "I hope that is a relief." 'Relief' was far from the word that should be used to describe the way that this news would be received. "Let's do a quick ultrasound to be a hundred percent sure, go ahead and lean back for me." B had to finally pick her jaw up from the floor and close her mouth. She rolled her shirt up and kept her eyes closed while Dr. Moore moved the wand around all over her belly. "Yup... riiight there." Dr. Moore nodded and pointed at the screen. "You can see we have a tiny baby growing here."
B finally locked eyes with her husband who was already looking at her. "I am going to kill you." She growled as she deathly stared at him. He wanted to smirk, but didn't once he realized how upset she really was. Her face had practically turned bright red and steam began to pour from her ears. Her jaw was clenched so tightly, her teeth could've shattered out of her mouth like a cartoon. Her nostrils flared and her chest heaved up and down.
"I'm sorry, baby." Jay mumbled and tried to kiss her hand, but she snatched it away from him quickly.
"Don't." She responded to him immediately.
"Uh—.." Dr. Moore said awkwardly as she waited to continue.
"I don't understand." B started, finally about to address the actual situation at hand. "How am I pregnant after having my tubes cut and tied for six, almost seven damn years??" Beyoncé groaned deeply and dramatically as she wondered what to do and how to feel. She looked at Jay who didn't seem upset or worried at all... he almost seemed happy, which upset her even more. Jay didn't know how he was supposed to feel either. He looked at B who obviously wasn't happy, so he figured he shouldn't be happy either? But, his instinctive reaction was to be happy, it was a baby! Another spawn of their love! Jay didn't have the reality of the situation in his head at the moment, all he thought about was their perfect, sitcom-like family.
"Firstly, it seems as though your tubes were never cut, just tied. I'm not sure who told you that, but if they were cut, this wouldn't be at all possible and–"
"Exactly. I didn't think it was possible in the first place, that's why we–" She stopped herself. "Oh my God..."
"Well, it's always rare, Mrs. Carter, but over time, the 'knot' that they put in your fallopian tubes can loosen just enough for an egg to slip through. It really doesn't happen often." Dr. Moore explained.
"Of course, it doesn't happen often but it still happens to me." She groaned. "Oh my God." She repeated under her breath, wondering more and more if this was some type of joke.
"Also, with these rare instances of getting pregnant while your tubes are tied, you're at a higher risk for an ectopic pregnancy. Lucky for you, though, the egg implanted itself in the uterus, just as it should be. So, there shouldn't be any complications in that aspect." Dr. Moore had tried to 'silver line' it for them, but B didn't find that to be helpful quite at all. She put her head in her hands and sighed, feeling beyond nervous and scared. She felt like she was too damn old to be starting over and after the difficulties with her last pregnancy, she was sure that her body wasn't going to be able to go through that again. "There are always other options for you if you don't want–"
"Baby." Jay cut Dr. Moore off before she could finish. "I know you're upset, so let's just think about this more and then come back another day." Beyoncé glared at him and wanted to tell him to 'shut the hell up.' She was so pissed at him, although she knew it wasn't his fault entirely. She was more at fault than he was, she should've known her body better, but she needed someone to blame. It just irritated her to no end that she was going to be the one suffering while he just lived his life. And of course he wanted her to keep the baby, he was a man. Men don't take the time to think about what pregnancy does to a woman, especially a woman that is pushing forty years old.
