Beyoncé held onto Rumi's hand as they walked through the mall. Rumi loved to shop just as much as B did. She wanted to stop in every store and look at every item. B didn't mind at all because she was the same way. Rumi was the only one she could make it through an entire shopping trip with. Jay, JJ, and Blue were all way too impatient to shop with them, Jay especially. Rumi was the type of kid who was annoying when paired with her siblings, but alone, she was a dream. They always had such a good time with one another, it was a super fun bonding experience.
"Hmm... Mommy, I like the purple one better." Rumi said as she eyed the two dresses that B was holding up. She had been contemplating a little too long for Rumi, so she decided for her.
B sucked her teeth. "You don't like the red one? That's the one I was gravitating towards."
"No because it looks like a grandma dress." Beyoncé let out a laugh much louder than intended. That's all she needed to hear to put the dress right back on the rack. "What about this one?" B asked, picking out a new dress.
"No. What is the dress for anyway?" Rumi asked curiously.
B shrugged. "I don't know yet. I'll figure out somewhere to wear it, I just wanted to look pretty in something."
"Can we find me a dress to match, then?" She nodded and said 'of course.' B admired every minute she spent with her baby girl. Rumi was the sweetest child and one of the most honest, it made shopping with her even more fun. They shopped around for another hour before Rumi got hungry, it reminded B that she was hungry as well. The minute food was mentioned, B felt her stomach growl.
"What do you want, baby?" She asked Rumi who only shrugged as they looked around the food court together. As Virgos, they had the tendency to be indecisive at times. B more so than Rumi. A lot of times Rumi knew exactly what she wanted and would be sure to express it as so, even at six years old. She wasn't bossy, she was the boss.
"I want a burger." She said which then made her mother release a groan. B had been wanting to cut red meat out of their diet completely because she felt like as she got older, it agreed with her stomach less and less. 'Am I even in the mood for a burger?' B had to ask herself. "From Shake Shack!" Blue exclaimed and pointed.
"Okay, we can get Shake Shack." Beyoncé reluctantly agreed. She decided to let Rumi get a burger and she would get a chicken sandwich for herself. They made their way over to the restaurant in the food court and placed the order. Rumi continued to hold onto her mother's hand as they just waited in silence. B looked down at her and smiled once Rumi had reached out for her hand. She just imagined what it would be like to have another child... she wouldn't have to imagine for much longer though. They were only months away from welcoming another human into the world. There was so much to do and so much to prepare, it was overwhelming.
B was snatched from her thoughts when their number for the food had been called out. "We'll sit here and eat, then we'll go home. Okay, baby?" Rumi nodded and pointed out a table for them to sit at. Rumi always enjoyed one-on-one time with each of her parents. It made her feel seen and connected. She was nervous to have another sibling because she didn't want to be removed from the spotlight and overlooked. She cherished the time so much and hoped and hoped that she would always have the opportunities for alone time with the both of them.
As promised, they were making it home less than an hour later. "Hey, babies." B greeted as she walked in with Rumi carrying the bags from their shopping trip. Jay was sitting on the couch with JJ laying over his lap and Blue on the other side of him. "What are y'all doing?"
"Watching a movie." JJ answered simply and barely removed his eyes from the screen as if it were the most interesting thing ever.
"What did you buy?" Blue asked shifting her attention, obviously not being as captivated as JJ was.
