"Don't tell them where we're going." B said as she stood in the mirror putting her earrings in. They were going to the fair and she knew the kids were going to be so jealous, but they just wanted to go alone before taking them. It was time for them to do something fun with just the two of them.
"I won't." Jay chuckled. "I don't want to hear them cry about it either. We can take them next weekend or something."
"Maybe." She shrugged. "That sounds too stressful to me."
Jay agreed immediately because taking all of them somewhere, no matter where it was, was always stressful. "Maybe." He emphasized. "You look good, though, are you ready yet?"
B rolled her eyes at him. "Don't stand here and watch me, it's going to make it take longer." She laughed. "I'm ready, I just have to fix my hair again because I don't like how it looks."
"Come on, baby." He groaned because he knew they only had a few hours of freedom and he wanted to maximize it. He followed her advice and decided not to stand there and watch. He went downstairs and sat on the couch with the kids until B was finally ready.
"Okay!" She announced walking into the living room ten minutes later. "I'm ready."
"Thank you." He mumbled and stood up.
"Bye, my beautiful babies." B smiled and gave them all a big hug and kiss. "Be nice to grandma. She better not give me a bad report."
"We're always nice to grandma." Blue yelled as if she were completely offended by that statement.
"Where are y'all going?" Rumi asked.
"To see a man about a horse." Jay said sarcastically.
"We're getting a horse?!"
"Rumi, please." He laughed. "I was only joking. We're just going out, mind y'all's business."
"Thank you again, mama." B said giving her a hug as well. "It's very much appreciated."
"Of course, baby. Y'all go on and have fun." She said.
B kissed Sir who was relaxing in his grandma's arms. "I love you so much. You be good, too."
"He better be." Tina added.
Jay said his 'byes' and gave hugs to everyone before they were finally out of the door. B let out a sigh of relief. "I'm so excited." She said aloud although she meant to just think it. Jay smiled at her, but ultimately agreed. He was excited, too. It had been months since they could go out on a date or go anywhere without the kids that wasn't a doctor's appointment.
"How you feeling, baby?" Jay asked her as he drove.
"I feel fine." She said and thanked him for asking. She was honestly feeling fine, but she felt even better just being out of the house. She was just entering the days where she was able to move much more freely and go places by herself. The day she makes it to target will be the day that she knows that she really is healed.
Jay could barely stop the car before Beyoncé was hopping out. "Hurry up." She rushed when she felt like he was taking too long. Jay smiled as B pulled him by his hand to keep him close behind her. She was walking very fast and he was doing his best to keep up. He couldn't help but to smile though. She was so excited and it made him excited as well. They'd finally gotten away from the kids for a few hours and they were in a good space to just have a good time and enjoy each other's company. B was feeling much more mobile than she had been and she was excited to be up and moving. A lot of her anger and disdain stemmed from her being in so much pain and the frustration of not being able to do what she wanted. She was feeling much, much better and it increased her mood so much and everyone noticed it.
