A few days later...

A black cat crossed his path, but Gemini didn't believe in such superstitions as that black cats bring bad luck.  He continued walking in the direction he wanted: towards a park near the headquarters of the Institute of the Knights of Light.  He passed people who were absorbed in their own business and paid no attention to him.  This favored his plans.  On the way, he had to pick up a 'package'.

“Have you got what I asked for?” He asked ten minutes later when he reached the park, where he sat down on a bench next to a girl who looked like an ordinary student, but was anything but.

Namtan smiled as she handed him a small wooden box.

“Uh-huh.  I just don't know what you want to do with it, it can be very dangerous, please, be careful with using that and better not use it at all if you can”.

“Don't worry about that, I have a plan”

“Do you have a plan?  Gemini, since I've known you, all your plans...”

“Don't finish,” He interrupted her coldly, giving her a baleful look.  “Just because we're friends it doesn't mean you have the right to remind me about it.  It was a long time ago, now it's different, I've changed”.

“Is that so?”

Namtan didn't believe him.  And rightly so. He was still the same cold, mean boy as he was the day Namtan got to know him. She still remembered that day as if it was yesterday but it has passed almost 2 years already. Gemini packed the box into his backpack and safely changed the topic of conversation. With Namtan he knew he could be very honest yet he wasn't going to tell her anything what she didn't need to know. Instead he tried to be a good friend to her.

“How are you and Mark?”

“No progress, unfortunately.  Mark is Mark, he doesn't talk about his feelings or what he wants.  He pretends he's doing it for me, but I feel like he's not.  Tell me, are you men all born assholes?”

“I'm not an asshole, and I'm not responsible for others”.

The woman took a deep breath, puffed out her cheeks and looked ahead at a small flock of birds looking for something in the grass, probably food.  Gem couldn't resist the temptation and tapped his friend's bulging cheek with his finger.

“Hey, cheer up.  Mark is not the only guy on earth, you will find someone.  If he hurts you like that, leave him.  I would never choose to stay with someone who treated me this way”.

“You just don't understand...”

“P'Namtan, I understand it better than you think.  I have seen many relationships fall apart for any reason, I don't believe in love.  I do believe in chemistry between two people.  And you and Mark... sorry to say this, but your chemistry is kind of... hmmmm... like too friendly?”

“Gemini, did you really bring me to this park to talk to me about my relationships?”

“No, P, I brought you here because I needed you to deliver this thing to me, and this conversation is just a bonus”.

Namtan felt hurt and offended.  She trusted Gemini, she had known him for a bit long time and she thought they were at least friends, but the icy way Norawit treated her at times made her question whether their friendship even made sense anymore?  Probably if it weren't for the fact that Namtan was a kind of courier delivering the things or information Gem needed, their friendship would have ended a long time ago.

Namtan ran her hand through her long, straight, flowing brown hair.  She often did this when she was nervous or excited about something, but now she also felt sad.  She got up from the bench, patted Gem on the shoulder and said goodbye to him with a cheerful face.
