36. Can't we be friends?

That evening, Fourth, Gemini, and Pahn were driving back from the set of a BL series that Gem had insisted on starring in with Fourth. It wasn't easy to convince the director, but he finally agreed. Gem gave Fourth and Pahn a ride to the Institute's parking lot, and before the two could even get their things out of the car, he ran off as if there was a fire. Pahn and Fourth thus became witnesses to the unexpected event. Fourth wanted to play his last(as he believed) role in a series and this one was quite light and Gemini didn't want to let him act with anyone else.

“I'm not gonna let you kiss another boy, don't even think about it. You are mine and nobody else will be allowed to get this close to you, did you understand?” Gem asked few days before they started filming, when they went to meet non-magical directior of the series.

“What? You are not my owner!”

“Oh, really? We're going to have family together and this is my project for the life-time. What if I let you kiss someone else and you end up liking that person? No, never in a billion years. If you still want to play roles in series, it has to be with me or nobody else”.

Again Fourth didn't have much to say. He knew that soon he will have to retire from acting and this thought he hated the most. He loved acting, it gave him feeling of being in control. He could become different people, he could be happy at least as fictional character and he tried to enjoy it. But now he was slowly losing this too. Soon it will become visible that he was pregnant. And he won't be able to hide it.

“This is my last series, Gem, and I'm only 20 years old. I'm sorry for being emotional but...”

“Nah, it's okiey, don't worry. I know you love acting and I promise to you it's not gonna be your last series ever. I promise that after giving birth I'll help you getting back in the shape and we'll start searching for roles for you, ok? Are you happy now?”

Fourth smiled and hugged Gem. Recently he became really emotional and this promise made him so happy. He couldn't stop thinking about it, even few days later, when they got back from second day of recording. Him and Pahn that day saw something unusual.

Just as Dunk had gotten out of the car and grabbed his new black bag filled with books he'd borrowed from the Non-Magic library, someone blocked his way.

“I didn't know you had a car and a driver's license,” Joong said cheekily. He approached the car and began to examine it from every angle, as if it were the most interesting object in the entire universe, almost an artifact. Joong looked at himself in the side mirror, as if he was admiring his own perfect beauty.

“At least I can drive a motor vehicle, unlike some people”.

It sounded a bit insulting, so Joong had to make sure that Dunk had actually said what he had said.

“Why are you looking at me like I’m an idiot? Do I look like an idiot to you? If you’re looking for an idiot, take another look in the mirror.” Dunk was definitely looking for a fight, and Archen couldn’t let him get away with it, even if he wanted to and even if he himself was very amused by Natachai’s behavior. Chen could hardly hold back a smile and replied in a serious voice.

“Don’t get carried away, honey, I just asked if you have a driver’s license, I’m not accusing you of anything. You’re cute when you’re angry.”

Fourth and Pahn exchanged meaningful glances. Their conspiracy seemed to be paying off, Dunk didn’t give in to Joong’s charm, his smooth words or the wealth he had to offer his future partner. Dunk liked his independence, it suited him.

“I'm not candy, so I don't have to be sweet, but you're bitter. No... Wait, you're not bitter, you're as moldy as a piece of expired bacon.”

“Ouch! My darling, don't be mad at me. Why such strong words right away? Can't we be friends?”
