17. With a little bit of alcohol

“Good morning, Mr Pierre”.

“Good morning Gemini, good morning Fourth. I'm so glad you found time to meet me”.

“Oh, that's not a big deal. Actually Fourth is big Formula 1 fan, he was the one who wanted to come”.

“Really? You like my sport?”

“A little bit...”, Fourth was clearly nervous, so Gem hugged him around the waist, wanting to remind him that they were here together and as if reassuring him: "I'm right next to you, there's nothing to be afraid of, I promised to protect you if something happened."  Gasly, however, didn't look like he was any danger for them.  On the contrary: he smiled politely at them, as if he hadn't written the Instagram messages just an hour earlier that had slightly unnerved the boys.

“It's wonderful to know that even in magical world we have our fans. Alex, who is actually racing for Thailand, challenged me and said that I won't find anyone in Knights of the Light unit, who can like our sport. Thanks to you I won our little bet, so... So you can ask me for one favour, but only one”.

Fourth thought that this Pierre Gasly didn't look much like the one in the Instagram DMs.  This one was calmer, nicer and... And somehow sadder.  Pierre was dressed, to the surprise of both boys, in a black T-shirt with the DIVINE logo on the back in different colors of the rainbow, and short, white knee-length shorts.  He had stubble on his face, and for some unknown reason Gem thought he felt sorry for the person Pierre was kissing, because a beard like that must be prickly.  Pierre caught his gaze and, as if on cue, rubbed his hand across his stubbled jaw.

“Oh, Gemini, I see you like my beard. Let me tell you, I'm quite proud of it. At least I can tease Lando about it”.

Pierre led them first to the car that was waiting to take them to the paddock.  Fourth preferred to cling to Gem's arm just in case.

“That way I won't lose you, and I'd rather not be missing in action.”

Two hours in the paddock passed as if they were only a seconds. Almost whole time Fourth tried to keep himself close to Gemini as if Norawit was his protective shield.

Later Pierre took them back to his hotel, put on some music and gave them all a glass of red wine.

To Fourth, Pierre seemed strangely familiar, as if they had met somewhere before, but he didn't quite know where or when. His own mind was feeding him memories of a wealthy man in the late 19th century, a European with identical blue eyes and light blond curly hair. Fourth unconsciously whispered a name he hadn't even thought of: "Raphael." But as soon as he weighed the pros and cons, he came to the conclusion that it was impossible, and that he probably thought of it because of his conversation with Gemini.

Fourth felt the strong effects of the alcohol almost immediately. He was momentarily dizzy, but then he felt his senses sharpen. Pierre, meanwhile, began to dance somewhat awkwardly to the music. Gemini, who normally hated dancing, now smiled broadly and quickly joined the Frenchman.

Pierre was nice and friendly all the time, he talked to them both about everything, he explained to them what they didn't know, he often smiled and laughed, although his eyes seemed terribly sad at times. It was as if he knew what awaited them... As if he had a premonition...

Completely drunk, Fourth dared to ask Pierre a question:

“Tell me, my friend, why do I feel like I know you from somewhere?  Do you also have these, uh, eeeeeh, how to say this in English?” Fourth asked himself in Thai, and then remembered the words in English with some difficulty.  “Do you also have these strange dreams...?  You know, like a different unit?”
