5.And so it Goes

"How's the room arrangement going?" Jace asked with his hands clasped in front of him.

"How do you think?" Alec snapped as Magnus chuckled. They were all three sitting together in the cell. 

"It's been lovely." Magnus sang, "absolutely lovely. I have never been happier."

"Sarcasm is seen as a weakness." Alec rolled his eyes.

"Only by those weak enough to use it correctly." Magnus winked and Alec kicked his shin.

"Ouch!" Magnus yelped as a guard banged on the cell.

"Quiet!" The guard glared. "Today was supposed to be a great day."

Jace and Alec shared a look. Jace coughed and broke the silence. "You thought the first day of the semester at college would be a great day?"

"Shut up." The guard shook his head and walked away to a girl with red hair. "These three are idiots."

The girl shrugged. "The blonde one's cute."

"Awe." Magnus quirked an eyebrow.

"Yeah." Jace nodded his head in agreement to what Magnus was thinking. Alec starred at the two, worried that he had somehow gone deaf and missed the conversation that didn't happen. Jace and Magnus shared a couple looks and laughed. Alec shook his head and touched his ear. He could hear, so what the fuck was going on? He looked at the two guards talking and still nothing.

"What's so funny?" Alec finally asked.

"Come on, Alec," Jace chuckled and kicked his friends foot then looked at the two guards again. Alec looked and watched as the guy gave the girl a mug of coffee and a cookie.

"Do you want coffee? Are you thirsty or hungry?" Alec was just getting more confused.

"Darling," Magnus placed his hand on Alec's forearm. Alec yanked his arm away from him. "Our grumpy friend is clearly in the friendzone."

"He's our friend?" Alec raised his eyebrows.

"What?" Magnus looked shocked. "Oh for the love of all things holy and unholy, you're a dumbass."

Alec kicked Magnus. "I'm highly intelligent. You're the dumbass. Making up words and shit, thinking you can make me feel like an idiot. Jokes on you."

Alec stood up. "Simon, get your ass over here and let us out."

The guard lept up, his face bright red. "You can't speak to me like that."

"Or what?" The look on Alec's face sent a chill down Simon's back. "Your arrest wasn't valid. I was having a nice break but your mistake was putting us all together. You gave us ample time to get our stories straight and the statue will get fixed but only if you let us leave now. Or would you rather call your higher up and embarrass yourself further than the friend zone we're in."

Jace and Magnus snorted. Simon was more red than a tomato as he opened the cell. "You're going to regret this."

"I won't. You will." Alec took the report and ripped it apart.

"Okay class give them a round of applause." Mr. K stood at the front of the class as Alec and Jace hurried to their desk at the back of the classroom and Magnus bowed. "Now who wants to go next? We have more fake crimes and scenarios to go through. "I love making you all act the first day of Crime 101."

"This is going to be a great class." Magnus whispered in Alec's ear from behind him.

"Just kill me." Alec groaned.
